Please Recommend Good A Efl Website For By Thai Friend To Re-Learn The Basics Correctly

Featured Replies

Whilst my Thai friend had a very good command of the English language, She seems to have a void of understanding regarding the most basic English. For example; is, was, were.

She has some text-books by Thai authors already, but to be honest I don't rate them very highly, and I think they have clouded her understanding of the basics.

She really needs some learning materials that can hammer the basics home, and to that extent, please could some knowledgeable forum member recommend good a EFL website that would allow printing of learning materials.

Many Thanks.

edit:- Just adding a highly technical discourse of English grammar would not interest her, however, she still needs to understand that not including or changing key words can have a great impact in meaning.

At the risk of sounding patronizing or looking like a total idiot, why don't you get a few decent novels or non fiction books to read ?

Probably enjoy learning the correct usage of is was and were from them if she is as erudite as you say she is she'll have fun learning and quickly strengthen her weak points.

Make her and your learning a fun time. As a teacher I've always tried to weave fun into lessons no matter what the subject was, ,happy students want to learn and they do learn if they're happy

Good ideas but she already has novels.

I think her problem must be common.

Seems, that in the initial confusion of learning a new language, key concepts were not ingrained. Then, as she learnt a little more, meaning could be inferred or confusion "solved" by a pocket dictionary.

You might consider the program "Tell me more" available at the same bookstore,--wai2.gif .

Tell me more is great, it is a nice program that is used in some Universities here.

I found some contents to check on the MOPH website, in Thai and English to help explain the basics.

Can use this link to get there - http://ict.moph.go.th/English/content/

I've got one with English German, French, Dutch. You can choose between British and American English. Beginners, Intermediate Advanced, some really good stuff for all learners of a language.---wai2.gif
