What Are The Odds Of Obama Making A Second Term Without Being Impeached?

Featured Replies

This thread is supposed to be about Obama, not about Israel, so I won't take this any further. I will, however, remind you of one line in my post

" Will Israel fade away? That would be a sad end to a noble aspiration."

There is honest disagreement on the best tactics to keep it alive but the consensus of American Jews is the two state solution IF it can be negotiated successfully and that means an Israeli government also open to negotiation and Netanyahu clearly hasn't been that.

Maybe the fact that the Palestinians have turned down multiple peace offers (including returning to the 1967 lines) have something to do with that. The problem is not Netanyahu

Obama's administration is again in violation of his oath of office to uphold the laws of the US.

Obama Continues to Violate His Own ‘Stimulus’ Law by Not Releasing Quarterly Reports

10:41 AM, JAN 26, 2013 • BY JEFFREY H. ANDERSON

Have you heard much about President Obama’s $787,000,000,000 economic “stimulus” (now estimated to cost $831,000,000,000) lately? In its last report, published in 2011, the president’s own Council of Economic Advisors released an estimate showing that, for every $317,000 in “stimulus” spending that had by then gone out the door, only one job had been created or saved. Even in Washington, that’s not considered good bang for the buck.

Moreover, that was the fifth consecutive “stimulus” report that showed this number getting progressively worse.

Alas, that was the last report we’ve seen. Never mind that Section 1513 of the “stimulus” legislation, which Obama spearheaded and signed into law, requires the executive branch to submit a new report every three months. It reads:

“In consultation with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Secretary of the Treasury, the Chairperson of the Council of Economic Advisers shall submit quarterly reports to the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and House of Representatives that detail the impact of programs funded through covered funds on employment, estimated economic growth, and other key economic indicators.”

still, it's quite amusing nevertheless.

Amusing indeed. One quote: "I don't think it is that people hate the guy. They just hate what he represents- pure evil. Admit it... this guy is the closest thing to an anti- christ that we have seen." thumbsup.gif

Well there are no flies on the POTUS, or maybe there are. It almost makes me want to renounce my atheism in order to believe the following, still, it's quite amusing nevertheless.

when i worked on a farm there was typically only one thing that attracted flies and i have admit Obama does resemble it.

still, it's quite amusing nevertheless.

Based on his inauguration speech espousing wonderful VALUES supported by the MAJORITY of Americans, it's more like he represents pure GOOD than evil.

That's fantastic. Then he should go make speeches in the park and spread his powerful positive message. Let someone who knows how to govern do his job. You know, someone who doesn't just deal in emotional rhetoric. There's a place for that but the presidency isn't it, if you can't close the deal.

How is any human supposed to "close the deal" when dealing with a radically obstructionist opposition with rigid ideology that the only role for government is defense spending? He's president. Not God.

I thought he was going to reach across the aisle and heal the rift?

Or is that just another empty promise.

He tried that the first term. He's dealing with right wing irrational radicals. They are not there to govern. They are there to play act out their Ayn Randian philosophy. An empty, horrible, and dangerous philosophy. Obama has woken up. That evil needs to be fought against at every turn. You can't cooperate with radicals like that. They don't believe there is any role for government! Imagine where America would be if that faction had ruled in America over the years. They have been with us a long time, but they are stronger now. They control congress. They were same kinds of people who were isolationist in WW2.

They are elected representatives of the great people of the United States of America.

As an American citizen, surely you should welcome the democratic process and support the decisions of the American electorate.

Do you recall anything about the passage of Obamacare and how it was done? For your memory, it was done in the middle of the night, without minority input and passed on Christmas Eve by using questionable political shenanigans. That was done when the Democrats had a true majority of BOTH Houses of Congress.

Now the Republicans have a simply majority in ONE House of Congress and your guy is at a loss to understand how nothing gets done?

Obama brought Chicago politics to Washington and used the heavy hand of bullying, intimidation and payoffs to get things done in his first two years. A smarter man would have learned in the next two years he should change tactics. He either hasn't learned or chooses not to alter his tactics and they still won't work.

The system has become dysfunctional and the 60 votes in senate need is part of it.

The system has become dysfunctional and the 60 votes in senate need is part of it.

The 60 vote Senate Cloture rule has been in effect since 1975. Obama isn't exactly charting unknown waters here.

Working across the aisle oftentimes gets the 60 votes needed, something Obama is choosing not to do.

Things have changed. Mainly the republicans since Gingrich. They have gone radical. They would rather posture with their rigid ideology than cooperate in governing from where the actual country is, which right now has shifted to slightly left of center.

Watch Bill Clinton's Obama convention speech. I believe that speech won this election for Obama because he nailed it. The problems in governance are the obstructionist republican's fault, not Obama's fault and the country agreed. Obama won. Either cooperate or hurt the country.

Just because the dishonest Obama campaign tricked the American people into voting for him by running a smear campaign against Romney does not mean that the country has moved to the left. Plenty of democrats have been elected before, but America is still center right. Obama must be stopped from ruining America with his loony left policies.

George Washington was an isolationist. Obama has not woken up anything or anyone, he can not even get his won party to support his budget, he has wasted more money without accountablilty than the penatgon and that is saying something, he speaks, photo ops and points the finger at others for his failings. As much as some groups would like to think he is a great leader the sad fact is the country may never recover from his time in office.

I guess they must, perhaps it's the great gulf between Obama's words and deeds, plus the apparent willingness of people to cover for, and even take a bullet for him that causes (ahem) speculation.

If they're the same kinds of people who were isolationists prior to WW II then that's good, because I'm that kind of person too. I don't think you meant during WW II. I don't think that they don't believe there's not any role for government, just not a role for the federal goverment. I swear, sometimes I don't think most Americans have even read the constitution, let alone The Federalist Papers.

No role for the federal government? Okie Dokie. I am so glad the tea party is nearly dead.

Tea Party supporters tend to unite around fiscal conservatism and a belief that the federal government has overstepped its constitutional powers.

Sarah Palin? She's officially OUT.

Well, I think she is just a media creation and an opportunist, don't you? A devisive pundit who could pander to a certain media demographic in return for personal enrichment. Not unlike our president, they both achieved nothing for the shitstorms they create. But she's a piece of media fluff not The Leader Of The Free WorldTM. In the president's case he uses fiery rhetoric to create division to no useful end, at least domestically. Internationally it's understood whatever he says is only rhetoric and it opens the door to all manner of mayhem. He's got a lot of blood on his hands because of it

Anyway, getting back to The Constitution; have you even read it? Do you know how and why it came into being? Are you familiar with the basic essence of it? You seem to think it is the equivalent of "The Church of What's Happening Now".

Tea party people twist the constitution for their OWN modern ideological purposes. This is similar to how right wing Christian fundamentalists twist the bible. Surprise! Often the same people. Have I read the constitution? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze.

More on this:

My friends on the right don't like to hear this, but the Constitution is not a clear document. Written more than 200 years ago, when America had 13 states and very different problems, it rarely speaks directly to the questions we ask it. The Second Amendment, for instance, says nothing about keeping a gun in the home if you've not signed up with a "well-regulated militia," but interpreting the Second Amendment broadly has been important to those who want to bear arms. And so they've done it

Well then; if you've read it you know that it's possible to amend it. Don't you think the amendment process is preferable to things like The Patriot Act, The NDAA, The TSA, Drones over America? Don't you trust the people? That's what a democracy is, right?

The Tea Party as Herr Namm would say is "like a lukewarm fart in a windstorm". They are a symptom of a disease whereby the populace doesn't feel it has any significant input into the formulation of government policy or law or action. They're pretty small potatoes compared to some of the silly and malevolent political alliances America has suffered through in the 237 years since its founding. Yet still laws got made. What is it about this particular president that makes him so unable to overcome the divisions withing our political class. I submit it is because he is an amateur, a dilletante, with no core beliefs or abilities, and only finds himself president because he was electable, not unlike Thailand's Yingluck. NOW WHAT?
