Hi,

I would appreciate any recommendations from locals for a reliable real estate agent to resell a newly built unit on Koh Samui. There are endless websites offering properties in any country on the planet, but an experienced and reliable local agent is worth his commission many times over.

If anyone has a recommendation, please pm me. Thank you.

It would help to know where the unit is. The local people are usually more tuned in to the local market. ie it is probably not much help to recommend an agent in Maenam if the property is in Lamai.

PM sent of a couple of agents that I have worked with over the years.

Check Samui Phangan Properties. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link here but you will easily find it with your favorite search engine

Thanks Shafty, got your recommendationsmile.png

I don't know Koh Samui at all, so this is most helpful. All I had found previously were the global property portals, who know Samui about as well as I dobiggrin.png

I would try to sell it yourself, via TV classifieds or other Thai based sites. Save 3 per cent minimum and a lot of wasted time.

"pictures and more details please"...expect a lot of these mails when you advertise on free websites even though you have posted a 200 word description and 15 pictures of every room.

Thanks for the replies, going to work on the recommendations. Would be happy to try to sell myself, but really no idea how the local market works:( So a good agent will earn his commission and I would be happy to pay 5% for a job well done. The agent who sells this development suggested they could sell it for 7% commission. For this all they do is push it out to the local agents and take a cut for themselves:( The woman who runs the outfit sits in an office in Hong Kong. These days, probably better to have an office in Russia or Cyprus to tap cash on the move.

Its great isn't it...these "estate agents" want 3% of your house sale price but some can't even be bothered to go to your house themselves to take photos. They want you to deal with that and send to them to add to their website. Inspires zero confidence in me. i can't help thinking that 3% a lot of money to sit get sitting behind a desk waiting for an inquiry. You would think that a basic level of professionalism would require them to actually visit your property in order to see its merits and sell this on to a prospective buyer.

Please advise me of a good proactive agent because i have little or no confidence in any i've seen thus far

Wait till you see the ones that want 5 & 7 % , also want you to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ getting professional photos done. Most on this island are a joke.

In my experience most estate agents start off with good intentions, when they realise that they can make more money building

and selling their own properties they turn from estate agents into developers who will push your property down to the bottom of the listings and only direct fresh customers to their own product.
