JT, look out as yer just gonna confuse folks with waist and inseam sizes...have them get on to the ll bean catalog www.llbean.com with a clear explanation of the products that they have on offer...

not that one would want to order and have delivered to Thailand with all the customs charges and taxes...but I work in saudi where they ain't got no taxes even for stuff ordered from overseas...but the ll bean shipping charges are steep...

and...if waist sizes are an issue I suggest sweat pants with draw strings...or if you are inventive and adventurous, an arab dishdasha (without the arab head rag)an all-in-one garment with free-flow movment...trouble is that they show up the dirt and you have to have a blazingly white item fresh every day...

(Fatimah at home with the washing and ironing and moaning: 'and I know that he wants to have sex with western women...')

i'm 42, 5 ft 10 and 32 waist (and I could wear a belt). I'm 90% positive when I leave Thailand I will not keep this current weight.

I biked 3:30 today, so I consider myself "fit enough". You can smoke, play video games all day, and have a waist of 30. and also unable to run 1 mile to save your life.

or have a waist of 34-36 and 6% body fat and built like a tank.

I've even seen girls that are 110 lbs but have that muffin top going on......

My 2 cents.....body fat much more important (I know, it can vary and even water level off can change things a few percentage points) than a scale, or waist line.

Great post

Nothing confusing. Don't complicate what ain't complicated. You go to the store. The pants for sale has a NUMBER on it in INCHES. That's the number referred to here, in INCHES.

'store'? what store? there ain't notnin' bigger than 38 available in all of fckin Bangkok!

now...near where I work in saudi in a dusty little desert town there is a store and they had 40 waist available in a cargo pants number and I bought one...and then I went back and bought again...dynomite all cotton with lightweight fabric...then I went back again and the 40 waist labelled pants were a fraud; 40 inch waist fer a midget...the evil south asian shop people got my custom and then made a mess of it...

when you order from ll bean they put you on the mailing list fer their catalogs and I'm going with the full cut canvas pants, 40 waist with 30 inseam...

100% guarantee so ye can't go wrong...

on the lift going down to the parking in the morning at the King Abdullah Economic City: 'say, man...them suspenders are righteous...'

Imperial inches,as opposed to Metric.

I won't go into 30.5 = 30 1/2"...30.25 = 30 1/4" and so on.............

Always was a 32 waist until moving to LOS 3 odd years back, now up to 34 waist, hopefully it'll stay there,

don't drink beer so belly'a still in ok condition, thankfully drinking a bottle or more o the finest scotch whisky on the odd night has no detrimental effects on the belly, it's only the speech that goes belly up,,,

Why despise ?, I have no problems with people who are overweight. I had quite a big belly too (not that big though) for a while till i decided enough was enough. But its a choice, the only ones i have problem with are the ones complaining about it and not taking action. Its something you control yourself. But if you like your food and lifestyle then keep it. Why change if your happy, if you are not then change.

32 waist but because of legs 34 jeans.. so i went for 34.

Real low body-fat and in good shape.

Though it is not effort less.

get outta here, rob...after 62 years ob hard libben I gots a right to a 40 inch waist line...

Sure why not, why do people think i have a problem with that. Only got a problem with those that complain they can't get rid of it ect ect. Its a choice but if you feel good with it why not keep it.

My dad got quite a big belly even though he bikes a lot and has good stamina, i tried to convince him to loose it but its up to him to do it. Nobody is going to tell me not to workout so I am not going to tell someone to workout. I will only say that if you are complaining about it, because its for a large part up to you.

rob is right...you can do anything you want with yer body size if you have the will...

in the past I have got fit with diet and exercise by adhereing to a strict routine...I am a diabetic but I have been able to control my blood glucose without medication with diet and exercise...

but it is a hard routine and probably not sustainable when you get older...

recently I gave up tobacco full stop, no snus or anything and I gained some weight and I'm 62 and I feel it...I'm on holiday now but I will start 'the routine' when I get back to saudi...only lean meat and veges and 30 mins of cardio 4-5 times per week...basically 'the cabbage soup diet' with some modifications...

being in saudi helps as there ain't no booze or other temptations...and I wanna get strong and head out into the saudi desert between Makkah and Madinah and maybe I'll see The Prophet (PBUH) and he may have some useful advice...

36 inch.....but have come down from 38 inch, hope to get down to a maximum of 34 inch.......can but hope!

You can do it if its important enough for you. If not then you won't be able too.

I roll into a fairly decent routine and then out of it at will. When fit I feel much much better. Mind you I like being a slob for a bit too.

Good to feel the change in yourself as well. I'd be bored following a strict diet and exercise routine all year round to be honest....gotta live a bit an all....

To be honest the exercise is not hard at all for me as i work behind a computer during the day I actually need the hard workout to keep me without stress.

Diet and minding what you eat is not that hard but a lot harder then the exercise. Still its not easy and i have to be mindful not to eat too much. Its not my set meals but the snacks of fruit in between.

But for me it has been important and a goal i wanted to achieve so the you take those extra steps.

Sure Tusti age does not help but one of my goals is to keep in shape as i have seen the difference between older people who keep exercising (in one form or an other) and those that don't do a thing. I hope to be as strong as my dad.. in shape he is not (fat) but he has great stamina and bikes a lot.. Mom is what you would call slim (for her age) but its not muscle but fat and she gets tired easy. Id prefer to be my dad then.

rob, me old mate...ye can't stay young forever and all the fitness and training in the world ain't gonna change that inevitability...

we want to stay fit within the limit of our ability and those limits are reduced with age...

I would sell my soul to be able to paddle out with confidence at Jeffrey's Bay in South Africa on a big day but I'm a sick old man and that ain't ever gonna happen even if I auctioned the souls of everyone that I love...

always go for what is important but when that limit smacks you in the face ye gots to pay attention...there can be damage if you don't...

ROFL, where the heck are you, the Empty Quarter?

The stories I could write up on here, trouble is no one would believe them.

Bars, clubs, live bands, discos, casinos, women, alcohol and drugs all available.

Tutsi,

Of course you cant stay as strong as when you were young but i seen some great examples of what is possible and it is a lot more then we think.

Anyway I can't stay young but i can stay in better shape as other people of the same age. I know a lot is possible a real lot you can stay healthy and strong for a long time as long as you don't give up easy. But of course you need to begin before you are real late.

oh yeah...everyone knows that if you know where to look you can get anything ye want but it's not 'in yer face' so there is less temptation...

plus I've become dysfunctional as a result of the diabetes so that even if I wanted to have a party things wouldn't go anywhere...some hot number comes up and sits down with me at a bar on soi nana and I motion at my crotch and say 'mi bawan...anii mai dai...' and then she sez: 'yeah, sure, pal' and picks up her stuff and flounces off in a huff...and I never intend to upset anyone...
