BANGKOK: -- At 1pm yesterday, a Thong Lor police officer suspected of a brutal rape fled the Thong Lor station right before Samut Prakan investigators raided his workplace to execute an arrest warrant against him.

Police went on the hunt for Pol Sub Lt Thatree Suebsaman, 53, after Nattanan Wongpracharat, a 32-year-old noodle vendor, brought a Laotian worker in her employ to file a complaint with Samut Prakan police. Nattanan accused Thatree of raping and detaining the victim from 6pm on April 20 to 10am in the next morning.

According to Nation Channel, the rapist, who was working his second-shift job as a taxi driver, picked up the victim and her boyfriend from the Phutthamonthon area to Rayong province.

CRIME
Police officer accused of sexual assault still at large

BANGKOK: -- Metropolitan Police chief Khamronwit Thoopkrajang transferred on Thursday a police officer accused of raping a Laotian woman to an inactive post pending a probe, which could result in his dismissal from the civil service.

The accused, Pol Sub Lt Thatree Seubsaman of Thong Lor Police Station, is still at large after allegedly committing the crime while sidelining as a taxi driver.

Through the media, Khamronwit urged Thatree to surrender and face legal action, which he said would be conducted fairly according to the evidence.

Thatree was earlier accused of picking up the Laotian couple and telling the male passenger to get out midway to their destination, before taking the female to an apartment, where he allegedly handcuffed and raped her.

"Pol Sub Lt Thatree Suebsaman, 53"

"threatened her with death and handed her a paper on which his name and phone number were written"

Wow, that takes stupid to a new level. Maybe this guy will be promoted by Chalerm and given a job as a firearms instructor.

It's plain hubris. Goes to show how arrogant this fella is. It's as if he was daring the victim to report him.

This guy is 53 and obviously didn't just get out of the police university to get his sub lieutenant rank. Normally that's a promotion from something like senior sergeant major. He must have many years of service moving through the ranks to become a sub lieutenant.

So we've heard one side of a story.

Despicable..........If it's true.

I'll wait to hear the other side and see a little more evidence.

Then we can all join the lynch mob.

Poor (literally) woman.

I am just waiting for the "this happens everywhere"- guys to crawl out of the woodworks!

No it very well doesn't!

You need to be in a position of power.

You must have no respect for women.

You must have no respect for LAOTIAN women.

...and for all the above reasons feel "untouchable".

I guess, he doesn't even know, what all the fuss is about!

Despicable!

it does happen everywhere, remember oliver straus kahn

Don't worry, the ear medicine expert will be along very soon with a reason why, for the police, it's all OK.

It still doesn't match the base reactions of the Indian police, who tell rape victims they should marry the rapists in order to avoid shame. Oh, the police officer was married anyway, so no chance of that happening. I wonder if his wife will miss him if he leaves the country?
