Judging by the numbers quoted, boy did they see Thailand coming or what? Land Of Scams being scammed - som num na. And then trying to sweep it under the carpet?

I think if you actually used any sense for a change and read between the lines you'd realise actually who do got scammed and who made the most money out of this.

Wow 22 posts about corruption and no mention of Thaksin, must have been Abhisit who was behind this one then? Surely Not!

Strangely enough The Democrats did not take power until 17th December 2008 and most of the ordering and buying must have been done under the PPP party.

The army commanders and commanders of other units who ordered this garbage should be charged with committing robbery with violence and even murder or attempted murder. They deliberately stole from the taxpayer and sent men to test for explosives with a useless piece of plastic that could and, in some cases, did result in getting them killed. I would suggest the death penalty in cases where people died using these devices.

Why on earth is it up to the army to decide whether to prosecute? They are the guilty ones. The government should make the decision but they are all either too scared of the top brass or were involved in the scam.

Think many countries armies were taken in by a big scam and purely because where the item came from, UK. Whether the low life seller made other deals with ''buyers'' is another subject, AND sure the low life seller would have gone down that route.

If someone has lost their life cos of this low life greedy person then he should be made accountable and extradited to the the country concerned.

Obvious who is running the nation. Its the governments job to decide who gets charged or not. It should definately be out of the hands of the RTA. It appears that their upper echelon are up to their necks in this scam

Never mind about other countries army's. Just consider the fact that the RTA never did any in depth research into the efficiency of those 'so called' bomb detectors. They just payed over the money.

And even publicly endorsed it when challenged.

I hope ponthip got paid very well for her support because this ruined any ounce of credibility she had.

I do not think stupity is against the law in Thailand, otherwise we would build a wall around the country and declare it a Penal colony.

Now the price difference paid for the widgets via different Thia goverent entities, the lack of any techinal tender/proof of validity, continued use, etc may point to a bit of corruption. But it must have met muster (do nothing on a small scale) as to the amount of corruption, as no one seems interested in where the difference in asking price and what was budgeted, for these marvels of invention (self power generated internally) went to.

I only hope that Thailand never has to go to war. Who could expect its brave young soldiers to lay down their lives or follow such corrupt old generals.

The old generals obviously.....

Leading the war from the back - back seat of a Mercedes.

There was a saying back in the First World war and possibly even back to the Crimean war that British troops were Lions led by Donkeys.

In Thailand it would probably be Lions led by Buffalos.

The guy just got 10 years.thumbsup.gif

Yeah and even with 50 million quid in the bank he will still have to do his 'time'.

Seems they are going to track down the cash, also seems LOS doesn't want it's cash back. whistling.gif
