Wiring Colours?

Featured Replies

Finally got around to putting the AC on a plug rather than the twisted and taped joins the "electrician" used. However, the AC has brown and blue wires, rather than Thai black and grey. If I remember correctly, the brown is L, blue N. Is this right?

Thanks.

Incidentally, the "electrician" cut the earth wire back to the cable insulation, despite there being an excellent earth right beside the outside AC unit. What a clever chap! I wonder if he even knows what the green wire is for

I wonder if he even knows what the green wire is for?

Sure he does. It's for his beer money.

Dont worry they know best and we are idiots, mine actually tried to use purple for live and green colour for neutral, no earth, they said they never did it "that way"

I supplied them with the correct clours red black green.

This aircon was bought from tesco and used their finest installation team.

Am no waiting to see how long befire it leaks?

I supplied them with the correct clours red black green.

Except those are not the 'correct' colours in Thailand which uses (mostly) the NEC colors(sic) of Black, White(Grey) and Green.

That said, at least they were a recognised code, if your installation is consistent within itself there should be no issues.
