Septic Tank Size

Featured Replies

I am planning to install a new "compact" septic tank.

It's a Septic Tank and Anaerobic Filter combined.

What is the recommended size for a septic tank per adult ?

I would like for mine to be able to handle 6 adults consistently.

Thanks,

luudee

PS: Any recommendations for an installer in the Pattaya area ?

"What is the recommended size for a septic tank per adult ?"

primarily it is not the size of the tank but the size of the drainage area that counts. the anaerobic filter is an added "green" gadget but irrelevant concerning the septic tanks capacity.

Maybe just hook it up via spill over from your current system? What's the anaerobic for? Are you planning to recycle? Whatever, I've never seen a septic system sized for per person scat.

I've done more research and found these two web sites:

http://www.ukseptictanks.co.uk/size-septic-tanks

http://www.crystaltanks.com/tanksize.html

basically they say 2000 liters, plus 180 liters per person (worst case occupation).

The size of the septic tank is important as you want for the bacteria to de-solve all

solids before it enters the soak away. Otherwise your soak away will get plugged up ...

And of course as Naan points out the soak away size is also very important.

Thanks,

luudee
