Non O or?

Featured Replies

Good evening.

Some help required please.

I am danish, have stayed the last year with my wife here in Thailand on an multiply entry NON O 12 month visa.

Unfortunately i have missed the possibility to apply for an extension of stay as the visa have expired on the 8'th of June.

I am still here legally, pass port stamped for 2 more weeks.

My intention was to apply for an extension of stay, but what to do now?

Do i have to obtain a new non 0?

If so - where to do that?

Thank you - and sure, i feel like the fool of the year.

Rasmus

You can still apply for an extension. It's not the visa date they go by. It's the 'permission to stay' date.

Contact the immigration office for your area for what they will require.

As said it is your permission to stay that you have to apply before - the visa expiration date only applied to entry into Thailand. If you have the financials in place you can apply for one year extension this coming week - if financials are not ready you can apply for a 60 day extension to visit wife without and then do the one year during that time.

Thank you for quick and precise answer.

One thing though i forgot to mention - i was out of the country yesterday - after the 12 month visa had expired.

By entering to Thailand again the immigration officer stamped a further 14 days. It means the 14 day i can still stay here

are granted after expiration of the visa. Does this change the options for extension?

Thank you

Rasmus

Yesterday you got a 15 day Visa Exempt entry.

If you get down to Immigration tomorrow you might still be able to do it.

Go and have a chat with them.

You should at least be able to get the 60 day extension.

You are most likely going to have to obtain a new non immigrant O visa entry to extend for one year - as said you can obtain a 60 day extension from current entry and should go immediately and explain you mistake - but I suspect once you got the visa exempt entry the chance is gone for one year extension until a non immigrant O visa entry or conversion is obtained. They might be able to do a conversion for 2,000 baht if you have proof of meeting extension of stay requirements within 90 days (wire/marriage proof/financials with you).
