Opthalmologist - Any in Chiang Rai?

Featured Replies

I have a condition in 1 eye that requires monitoring monthly and may require intra vitreal injections. As you can imagine you do not trust the intra vitreal injections to anyone with a needle in their hand. Does anyone know and could recommend a good opthalmic surgeon in Chiang Rai?

I suggest you go to the one at Sriburin Hospital.

They treated me well there. and have very very good equipment.

There is a private one in town which has a large surgery and many thais go but I was not impressed. Very quick examination and drops prescribed. Cost was 3000 baht I had the same drops with a full examination and about 15 minutes of removing calcium deposits in Chiangmai for 900 baht. I think he saw a cash cow.

Sriburin is adequate and a bit more reasonable. For anything really serious I would go to Sripat in Chiangmai.

For serious eye problems Rutnin Eye hospital is the best in Thailand and I doubt whether there is anything even close in the North or anywhere outside Bangkok. I gave up with BNH in Bangkok after they diagnosed a serious, incurable eye condition that turned out not be present at all.

Thanks guys for the information. It looks like I can find an opthalmologist to monitor my condition but if an intra vitreal injection is required I will go to Khrung Thep.
