Visa Transfer in Issan

I have a new passport and am about to try to have my visa transfered into it, I live 50km south of Roiet and believe I will need to use teh Amnat Chareon immigration office to do this. I have had experience of them refusing to extend my visa there before (workpermit etc in hand) as I was working on a spousal visa, so realise they can be a bit awkward. I need to know if they will require a letter fro the Uk embassy requesting the transfer, I would also like to know if they make any charge, and if I can go to any immigration office to do the transfer or if i can do it anywhere.

If anybody has any experience of this could you please give me a bit of advice?

Cheers

Are you currently on a visa, or an extension?

If a valid visa issued by a consulate, they will probably tell you to just use both the old and new passport until the visa expires.

If an extension, they should transfer it for you with no charge.

You are supposed to have that done at the location that did your extension.

I've always used a letter from my embassy, asking them to do the transfer. Suggest you call them and ask if it will be needed.

They will not transfer a Visa.

They will transfer an extension of stay.

Does this mean that I need to have my old passport to show the visa and my new one for Laos imigration to do their visa and stamps and then Thai immigration to do their stamps? This is my visa I am talking about as I can never get them to give me an extension on my non O spouse visa as I prove income through work as a teacher, and they want me to swap to a non b.

Cheers

For first trip out with new passport you will need to show both passports when leaving so they can stamp in your original arrival date and then departure.

Show only new passport to Lao immigration.

When re-entering use old and new passport to use the visa.

If you are making over 40K income you should not have any problem getting the extension done based upon marriage. If not you would should not need to get a B visa just change reason for extension from marriage to working as a teacher.

Thanks for info UJ. I will do this for my next stamp, can I keep doing this till my visa expires in January? I would go for the extension, but Amnat keep insisting I cange to non B and i like non o so I will carry on renwing my non O until the extension becomes easier. Thanks again

You can keep showing the visa in old passport until visa expires without a problem.

They are wrong for refusing to the extension based upon marriage as long as you have an income of over 40K baht.

A B visa is not needed to get an extension based upon working either. You could use your o-visa for that.

We tried explaining that to them in immigration but they would have none of it, and point blank refused to do it. We even phoned Bangkok for confirmation and they still refused.
