Just1Voice
First off, I simply don't believe this story. Everyone knows that gambling, just like prostitution, doesn't exist in Thailand because it's illegal, so how can you possibly accuse the proud members of the RTP, of all people, of gambling and breaking the law?? Gsxrnz
First off, I simply don't believe this story. Everyone knows that gambling, just like prostitution, doesn't exist in Thailand because it's illegal, so how can you possibly accuse the proud members of the RTP, of all people, of gambling and breaking the law?? It's obviously a dastardly contrived conspiracy to engender a lack of trust and believability of the Royal Constabulary whose honesty, morals, integrity, and sense of fair play are above question. I for one will not rest until the perpetrators of this heinous conspiracy are brought justice. On second thoughts, bugger it, I'm off to bed.

Gsxrnz
Why didn't they just bribe themselves? Because even for Thailand, that's pushing the irony envelope just a tad too far me thinks. Would have been a beautiful solution though.
Cuban
Humor aside (it is funny though) a sad reflection on the pass-time enjoyed by many Thais across the nation where only the rich "elite" can afford to travel overseas to gamble legally, those that don't have access to the closed gambling clubs - which are under "protection."
MegaRanter
I don't see any Singha bottles??Maybe they thought it would be irresponsible to drink on duty. There has been incidents where they shot each other after drinking and playing hi low.

TallGuyJohninBKK
They won't be fired. They will be re-instated in a week or two. Never believe a public statement by a government department. I don't believe it either... Forget playing dice. People get killed here and no one is held responsible. The only thing that could possibly make this different is that, in this case, they failed to perform their paramount duty...and that is to protect their PTP/Red masters. Perhaps that is the one unpardonable offense in Thailand these days. But I still don't believe it.

rosst
My children have been telling me for a long time that I am dumb, I guess I must be, I cannot see a problem?? What, they are sitting down amusing themselves and waiting for something to happen?? I do not get it? Is someone suggesting that this is reprehensible behaviour? Compared to the shit the leaders of this country are doing, not the Monarchy, Crap. Bloody hell , they are just a bunch of cops filling in time, give them a break??
Baerboxer
80% of the Thai Police Force should be sacked. The country might then move forward if they can find some good people to replace them with Anyone could organize a road block, oooh sorry you meant good people. What would be needed is a brand new set up, similar to UK police, moneis collected for any offence goes to government. Apart from some over zealous traffic police and household thefts reported that mostly are not dealt with as Insurance claims see to it. Otherwise in general they are respected and helpful, and walk the streets, also usually 1 will live in each village, and crimes can be tackled locally. Just a pity Thailand cannot adopt UK system of policing, as now 80% --a guess--hate the bib and do NOT respect them. Problem here is that people are afraid of any authority-----UP TO NOW. Where did you get your idea of UK policing from - Dixon of Dock Green? All cctv now. The crime response times are slow, interest in robbery low, and the motorway speed cameras automated. Village bobbies and community policing - sure, just like the Police Commissioners are doing a great job already. I remember the riots in UK cities in the 80s. Police moved about from rural areas to the cities to prevent trouble. Have a guess how they spent their spare time?

tingtongteesood
Normally it would be no big deal but they are supposed to be guarding the group of thugs and criminals that are the laughably bad government of this country at the moment, so their 'superior' is trying desperately to save his face..... Popular Post jbrain
So they played a game - big deal. bigbamboo
So they played a game - big deal. What is this Amnesty Bill, that's what I want to know? It's a big deal because gambling games are illegal in Thailand, they were policemen on duty but most of all they caused their bosses to lose face by getting caught. ALFREDO
Hahaha that was fast! Well done! Fast indeed but if we consider this a relatively minor offence why don't they move at such speed to sort out the serious stuff ? Stuck in somebody's " TOO HARD " tray I suppose. That is deadly serious ! Well done, but that happens everywhere here in Isaan! If they not play themselves they take High Kickbacks ! Everybody takes his share, I was at the Provincial Police head office in Udon Thani. Was sent away, should tell my problem at the Amphur Police station! 55555 That policemen who take the bribes in cash! My GF is still playing, a Policeman drove with her around some years ago and played HIGH ! with my money ! Than dumped her! 1 Million B. gone, she is still playing and ran to Patong and later to Singapore to work in the RED lights to find money what she borrowed from people now! Will not stop until all, including me gone! Crazy addicted! Edited August 7, 2013 by ALFREDO

Its forbidden because the Thais as I see them in Isaan are plain crazy and already a lot of people loose it all in all the games upcountry! If it is allowed to gamble, OH my God ! ALFREDO
What's hi-lo? If it's the same as in Macau casinos where it's called Daai - Sai it needs 3 dice and a sheet with number combinations to forecast what total number with come up. In Macau the dice are placed on a pad and covered with a cup which is then shaken by mechanical means and the dice then exposed. Interesting thank you. phosphorescent
"Having heard about the incident this morning, National Police Chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew instantly sacked the policemen" I guess the whole 'innocent until proven guilty' thing doesn't work here. I think there are different increments of innocence which increase exponentially with your net worth and power. Dirt poor and powerless equates to guilty as Xxxx regardless of the circumstances or evidence. Guilty or innocent, sacking a group of men on the spot without first investigating and looking into the incident is just plain wrong in any society.
