Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend somewhere in Pattaya to take a TEFL course, also costs & course hours & duration etc.

Plenty mate.

If u live here,or long stay have a walk and check them out.

one on soi yume, the soi running down the side of big c extra,Pattaya klang.I think there are 2 on klang, one either side of each other, close to big c extra.Google walen school, they have a few here i think.

Not even sure u can get a teachers job with a tefl anymore, or maybe 20,000 baht max to teach in a government school,is it worth it for a pittance

If you can't get a job with a TEFL what do you need ?

A BA in any field. Then you'd get a "provisional" permit good for two years from TCT, if not education related.

Preferable one in education,as you'd qualify for a teacher's license. A TEFL means next to nothing. You'll need to know how to "teach", Thai society and their different views of suitable behavior.

You'll need to go for interviews and find a job. Best way is to go from school to school in person, submitting your resume. Please see this link:-

I suggest the OP looks at job boards. Most jobs require either experience and/or TEFL training in addition to a degree. The most popular one for Thai-based teachers is ajarn dot com.

How will somebody know how to "teach" if they haven't been trained? The TCT tests don't teach this. They are fairly meaningless in the classroom, as they don't teach practical skills.

Off-topic posts deleted. It would appear we have posters who simply wish to start an argument. That is called trolling and can get you a warning and a suspension. The OP has asked about a TEFL Course, please stick to the topic.

I did my TEFL training in Bangkok at 'Text-and-Talk' academy. I studied full time for one month. In that time I covered 5 course modules and 6 teaching lessons, which were evaluated. It was fairly intense, but well worth the time and money. If you have no prior teaching experience, I highly recommend you register with an institute that provides a 120+hr program.

I think there's a Text and Talk in Pattaya as well.

PLC pattaya klang just up from big c

Excellent school
