Our Flooded Life In Sisaket......

Hello,

Thought it would be useful to post some flood photos and details of the area we're living in.

When I'd first read "floods under control", our house wasn't even flooded!!!!!??>?>????

The area on the photos in the center of Sisaket. Hundreds of people are in deep wa...aeh troubles.

We miss many things and will have to start again, as we'd just moved into the house. But also the area, where we'd lived before, is completely flooded.

First thieves have already started to search the empty houses to take what they find. If people offer you some cheap second hand stuff, please be aware that it could be stolen.

Many people have no other choice than to live in the city hall. Crappy hotels that charged 150 baht a night want around 500 baht now. People from the government seem to be to stupid to get this problem fixed.

Next problem will be a heavy increase of Dengue fever. I hope your houses don't look like ours and our friends'.-

sorry for your plight sir,strange you mention thieves last night i could here next door neighbours chickens making an awful racket..just told by my wife 2 mins ago it was scum going through her house and also stealing the birds..theres some vile people around,even when people are at a low ebb.and i thought it was maybe a snake trying to get a meal..please stay safe ....

A good one, indeed. Amphur Muang, which is in the middle of Sisaket, not too far away from the cops and city hall.

I genuinely feel sorry for you and hope that the future bodes you well, it must be heart-breaking to see not only your property but others as well under water. As you say, 'will have to start again', so I really do wish you well in the future and I'm sure my sentiments are echoed around anyone who hears about your plight.

Looking at those photos makes me feel very lucky that I'm in an area not prone to flooding, sort of brings home the reality of living in LOS.

I feel your pain though you are worse hit than me. I live in the housing estate on the right just after the prison when coming from the Amphur offices.I assume you are in the same area?

I am currently living alone (long story) and my Thai sucks but Monday I started to get the idea of what was going on and luckily my landlord showed up with a truck and 4-5 strong guys and my house were emptied in 2 hours and he is storing my stuff for me AND put me up in a room, with air con, wifi and a fridge and apologized for not having a TV.

I went back to the house today still about 80cm of water in the street but the house were dry but there should be more water coming I think its going to be a while before we get dry.

We're staying with some guys from your area in a house of a relative. I lived there for 10 years, never experienced a flood at "Kunlawadee Villa" and had just moved into another house. That's where the worst happened.

Many people said that very heavy rain will come on the 29th. I'm speechless for now.-

P.S. Guess you know "Toni" from Switzerland? He's back in Europe, while his wife lost his money in a casino, when the flood came.

Sorry about the flooding in "Kunlawadee Village". I bought a house there when they were new. I think early 90's. We had one flood there that had 3-4 feet of water. I packed my daughter out on my shoulders . we had many warnings of floods coming but usually had maybe 6 inches in the house. I sold the house in '05 and came back to the U.S. with wife and daughter to get my daughter in a decent school system. Have you ever ran into Willie from Belgium or , Neil from California, I moved there in early 80's with 15 years in Kunlawadee. The best of everything to you and pray you will bounce back and have the restful live that can be had in Sisaket. Take care

Thanks. Yes, I do know Willem from Belgium, but he'd left Kulawadee many moons ago. Haven't heard anything from him. The Canadian Grad seems to be divorced from his wife. He used to live in Soi 7, when he was here.

No idea about a Neil..but must have met him.

The floods in Sisaket seem to follow on 2-3 days after my farm is flooded in Prank Khu. The water has risen again at my farm so it will probably rise in Sisaket too over the next couple of days.

I had lunch with Belgian Willie today - he is talking about staying in Sisaket again.

Willie closed shop about 2 years ago and have since moved to Phuket been back a couple of times but are happy staying in Phuket.

I was drinking with him 2 days ago in Franks so he still cannot keep away from SSK!

I don't think the Pompiman Hotel has had any trouble. Its the surrounding areas that are the problem including the approach roads.

A relative owns a house in that flooded area and I remember the last time the house flooded was back in 2003. That time they had a metre of water in the house. They say it's a lot deeper this time.

Sisaket has a facebook page (all in Thai). It's got plenty of flood pics on it. People are getting some good fish catches from the floodwaters.

I really feel for you and the rest of the people in your area.I can not imagine what it must be like to have your home and land submerged in some much water.

Thank you for sharing those photos with everyone,the photos really bring the harsh reality home.I for one find them shocking but appreciate them at the same time.

One more thing I would like to add is to commend you on your actions in helping with the relief work in the boat,lost your home to the waters but still have the compassion to help others .........that shows heart and character

Some guys already broke in our house two days ago. No idea how many things they took away, yet.

The flood was caused by a dam in Phusing, or Khuk Khan province. They kept the old, in a very bad shape dam full until it blasted. It wasn't the rain that did such damage to many peoples' lives.

It was human ignorance and stupidity. A deadly mixture. This flood even affects our marriage, as nothing is how it was before.

We'll never move in this house again, but have to wait until the water's gone. A never ending nightmare. Would be so nice to wake up to realize that it was just a dream. Just a dream.

Hundreds of people live near the "While Bridge? ) Saphan Kao) and the city hall under unbelievable circumstances. -

Short Update. Photos were taken today, the 6th of October. Many dead animals around the area.Burglars broke into our house at least three times. We're staying at a lovely woman we know a long time and now looking for another house.

Should anybody know a decent house that's not ion the flood area, we'd be more than happy if you page me.
