What is the point of this 'Likes' function? Is it to avoid unnecessary posts such as '+1', 'I agree', etc, or what? Really, what point does it serve, other than perhaps feeding someone's ego. Does anyone really give a hoot whether someone 'likes' what you say? If so, why not have a 'Dislikes function', ie 'Neverdie dislikes this post' (there you go ND, a response to you noobs thread post). biggrin.png

I was going to give you a like, but it looks like you don't like the likes.tongue.png

Thinking back a few years, did we not have '+/-' or little green blobs in that location now occupied by the 'like' button?

It does save posting an 'I agree' thingy, which is a waste of time (but then this whole concept is a waste of time, isn't it? I could be out robbing a bank instead of posting here)

w00t.gif I bin advocating for a "dislike" button since entering TV.
Yeah...... cheesy.gifcoffee1.gif

The problem with a dislike button when it existed was it was misused by some who just disliked the poster not the content.

If we hear of a bloke in Blighty robbing a bank in a bear suit, they're sure to point the bony finger at you, Humph. Perhaps you may consider a disguise - I understand that stockings are on option (though I don't know if you could get a size that would fit over those great hairy legs of yours...)

Fishnet stockings, red garters and a red teddy trimmed with black lace.

But i'd need a balaclava or ski mask to avoid recognition effectively.

And that would hinder my getaway. It's almost impossible for a bear to drive a fast car while wearing a teddy.

^Why not merely try to blend in with the crowd?

This crowd?

I'd have to sail away for a year and a day, look like a kiwi sheep-shagger who had swum the Tasman to improve his life (and technique), behave like an Aussie sophisticate living in sin in Surin, support Obama and a large Thai family, knock Obama and the current state of the world, whinge about Thai duplicity while praising Thai attitudes, keep saying how great it is to be away from UK poverty while asking for Marmite and Jacob's crackers to be stocked in Foodland and post U-toob vids on every possible subject.

A man for all seasons and all people - not really my bag.

Yes, that's the one - that's the crowd I meant. (If it's not your bag, I assume it belongs to the bank. I'd get rid of it quickly...)

Got rid of the bag some time ago.

Down to the Amphur - divorce by mutual consent.

Deeeleted - deeelighted.

I just liked every post on this thread, which for the people who receive email notifications will give the both feelings of the like button.

Firstly it feels really good if someone agrees or likes what we write here. It's kind of a reward of job well done.

Secondly, if there is a person who likes everything, the feeling is diluted the way homeopathics would call it mother of all feelings.

I used to want a 'dislike' button on facebook and on this forum. There is a lot of <deleted>, which should be demoted. After time, it was not really needed. If people do disagree of some statement, they do have write say so.. At least the first one, and then everybody else can like that dislike.

On some parts of the TV forum, likes are in a way rating system. If I post a photo to a photography forum and do no receive any likes it makes me think what went wrong and what should be corrected. Then again, when I get the glorious start.. oh the bliss.

There is obviously personal feelings involved in all likes. If we grow a dislike to a person, the barrier to give a like is higher. On the other hand, if we get a like from the person who is often our opposites.. it feels darn good.

Now like this post and every other on this thread, click the button, yes right now. I know you want to. It's not that hard.. and eventually you'll feel good. It does not cost you anything. And hey.. if you feel the other way in an moment, you can always Unlike it later on. Just do it. Take the step to side where flowers are brighter and mutual life with others is so much more giving.

Exactly.

I have had 'likes' from members that I have, let's just say, minor disagreements with, and in turn, I have 'liked' some of their posts..... despite some members efforts, it is impossible to be despicable all the time (save a couple)

When the 'dislike' feature was enabled, it was just a blood-bath of negative feelings by some about the posters and not the content of their posts.

The current situation is not perfect, but it is the best that has been tried so far.

They broke the ole 'perfect' mould, after they made u old boy......... In any such case I agree with the sentiments of this post. Am I supposed to push the button at the same time or will this comment suffice? Signed confuzzzed neverdie

The comment alone is more than enough.

Unless a large cash donation is being offered :)

Poor ole neverdie is busily spending his millions of satang before death comes knocking and now u want in on the stashed cash, sheesh !

The comment is enough then.

Can I have an ice-cream instead though, preferably strawberry.

There, you see - you've just made my point. You buy a Swensens and think, 'Oi, that was tasty'. Do you then march back into the shop, wizz up to the 'Swensen's Sheila' at the counter, recline an elbow, peer over the top of your sunnies and say, 'I liked that'? Then, immediately after having suffered a gastric repeat, do you follow it up with, 'Sorry, but I now I have to unlike it'?

(Anyway, I prefer icypoles.)
