In Mukdahan City as in most of the North East the only way to find something is to drive around with somebody who can read Thai and look at the signs displayed on the front of houses and then ring the phone number to enquire. There are a number of new apartment developments around the city with rooms available for rent on short term, but again you must drive around to find them as there is the normal lack of signage and information. Sometimes on the Mukdahan News or similar sites you can find ads for these apartments and ocassionally houses. All areas of Mukdahan City are fairly similar with regards to desireability but the closer to the Mekong the cooler the temperature due to the breeze. For a short stay while looking around for something permanent check out Mukdahan Manor, especially if you want western food.
