I have a 7 year old low mileage 3 series that needs a gear box repair. Barcelona Mtrs can only replace the gearbox (260,000 THB). Does anyone know of a mechanic that can repair a BMW gear box - I suspect hard to find in Phuket, so a Bangkok referral is also good as I can ship the car to BKK.

For a Bangkok address you may be better of in the motoring forum here on TV. You could ask a mod to move your post.

Pmax - a BIG Thanks for this advise ! The shop is still there and in full operation. Khun Gai not only speaks perfect English, he knows al lot about Volvo, Ferraris, Benz, BMW and even Corvette ! I've been there with my E46 which had no fan and no air-con at all for the last 4 years and nobody was able to repair it. BMW Phuket just told me "your price is 50,000 - excluding labor", but didn't specify the actual problem with the car, nor did they tell me what kind of spare parts are needed, or job they would do. So I just put the phone down.
For all E46 owners having the same (common) problem for this car type: After visiting many different BMW forums I googled for "Control Device for air conditioning" found it at https://www.amazon.co.uk/febi-bilstein-31966-control-conditioning/dp/B006DHY2Z8 or if you're around in Phuket visit Khun Gai directly. They went straight to the culprit, ordered the part and fixed it at a very reasonable price the very next day ! Pmax - again THANKS - You've made my day !
