chiangmaibruce Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Hi folks, We know some people (2 adults/1 child) coming for a short-term stay in Chiang Mai. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a clean and comfortable budget to mid-range place for them to stay in the general vicinity of Ruamchok Meechai intersection. It can be either a room in a guesthouse or an apartment that would accept a short (approx 6 week) stay. Furnished would be best, but unfurnished is Ok as they could borrow what they need. Thanks, CMB
elektrified Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I live fairly close to that area and can't think of anything that fits your description of guest house or apartment for 6 weeks. Plenty of single family dwellings (6 months-1 year contract) and some resorts out towards Sansai Luang. Maybe closer to Faham you would find more of what you are looking for. There is a new apartment house across from Ruamchok Meechai but I took a friend there to look at it for a 2 week stay and the apartments were very tiny and cramped, an odd V shape facing the sun and they were hotter than hell.
anto Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 There is a small resort behind the new Tesco/Lotus at Meechoke .Their web site will explain ,and i have not stayed there myself , www.vivacityhome.com
chiangmaibruce Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks guys. I have emailed the vivacity people as their web site provides very little info. Any further suggestions would also be much appreciated
chiangmaibruce Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Well, in the absence of any further ideas, we may have to get them something back in town. Smith Residence and Veerachai (newer wing) are booked up - can anyone suggest a place of similar or better quality at around the same monthly rate (about 7,500bht) ? Cheers, CMB
Giselle3 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Have you check out the Y Residence? http://www.theyresidence.com/room-rate/
anto Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Today i passed the modern looking B2 hotel .Its on the same ring road as Meechoke ( 2 nd ring road ) but 3 km West .They had a daily rate posted outside of B550 ,so maybe they have a cheap long stay rate ? ps ,There are several B2 Hotels around Chiang Mai ,another is on the Superhighway B2 Kamtien .The one i have seen on the middle ring road is so new it does not seem to be listed by Google maps ,but its open and taking business .

I too, was going to mention the B2, having just passed it about 30 minutes ago. I noticed the price increase as well. Don't bother with the Y Residence. That is the terrible place I took a friend to look at. Hot, cramped, very uncomfortable and facing the sun.
Giselle3 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 About the Y residence, i spent a few weeks there and it was great for the price above. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
chiangmaibruce Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 hi and thanks again for the input. I did think of the B2 hotel and did some research on them, and also approached several other potential places. It was looking grim but at the 11th hour we got them in at one of the places that we contacted very earlier on (presumably there was a cancellation). Given the huge number of hotels and guesthouses, I never realised just how tough it was to book a decent place in peak season. And some of the comments posted in TripAdvisor (about some of these places) were also fairly eye-opening, if not downright scary.
kcore Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks guys. I have emailed the vivacity people as their web site provides very little info. Any further suggestions would also be much appreciated Click on the web address at the bottom of,the web page. All info is,there as I just looked at it. I live down the street from this place. Looks nice but the pricing on the Internet seems .......how do I say it nicely.
