Work permit for artist

Featured Replies

A friend of mine is European and wants to live and work in Thailand. I explained to him that he needs a company with four employees etc, but since artists are usually freelancers, he is looking for a way to do his business legally (he is willing to pay taxes) without going through that process.

I wouldn't know any way, maybe someone else can chip in.

It would be the same as being a writer. There are many authors based in Thailand I wonder what they do about work permits?

Writers usually write in the privacy of their homes, while my friend is the kind of artist that stands on a stage and entertains people.

He needs to advertise, and he is visible when working. That's different from a writer.

Either way writers still need work permits so I don't see any difference.

Sure. The question is whether there is a way for freelance artists that they can get a work permit without having to open a company and employing 4 Thai staff.
