  • That's positive, good news! Now, if they could just extend the 90 day visa check in to 6 months or a year so it wouldn't feel like a visit to your probation officer!

Some good news at last, I'm just at the end of a Non-B visa and to be honest didn't feel like sorting it out before the new year, so now all I have to do is two land crossings and sort the marriage visa out in January. Lovely.

Any idea when this comes in to effect?

It is already in effect, as confirmed by several reports from members.

What about the Commonwealth of Australia? Home to the most civilised and cultured people on the planet!

May be they think that as a resident of Nanny country, we may require more vigilance and hand holding....LOL....

Presumably the prat who introduced the idea has either retired or died......i expect they'll extend it to other countries soon as they all have the same VISA waiver agreements?

Good News… Maybe some day they will give 60 days… I know, wishful thinking...biggrin.png

So now for some the annual visa cost to remain in Thailand is the cost of 12 visas to Laos or some other exit/entry point?

I wonder if there's any upcoming changes to the ASEAN countries as well as this recent G7 thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ASEAN changes are more generous than the G7 changes and I seem to remember reading something about it earlier in the year.

Or get rid of it altogether - like they did before.

I always wondered why the Russians, amongst a few other countries, got 30 days and the countries listed above didn't!

Are we talking about the same island Australia...where they send ages before the criminals and prisoners from the old world?! ;)

Or did you mean Austria?

Brilliant news. Let's hope it reaches are other European friends.

Because of an agreement between Thailand and Russian

and mainly the fact that Thai don't need any visa to travel in Russia smile.png

while it's very difficult for them to travel in Europe countries...

You confuse that with Austria....but we both keep out of the regulation :-(

Prior to Thaksin being ousted the land border visas were always 30 days.

Once Abhisit got in power the visa's were lowered to 15 days. Glad to

see em back at 30...now if Immig. can do this for others it would be a

welcome improvement for those needing these visas.

I knew the 15 day rule wouldn't last - they are losing too many tourists. More Thai ineptness ...

That's freaking good news. Will wear my Lederhosen today at school! And a Dirndl too.-wai2.gif

Good to see some minor changes/improvements for some people. Am surprised though that this has happened considering the huge amount of tourists that are (supposedly) currently visiting Thailand. Guess it gives the high-end tourists more time to spend their money in the hotels and golf resorts. Shame very little of that money however gets in the pockets of the ordinary Thai's.

Well yes, it sounds good. Lets hope the officials at the land borders are both informed of the new rule AND instructed to abide by the rule. Fingers crossed.

However, as per other posters from smaller countries, it seems odd that they have singled out a few EU countries, omitting Scandinavia as well.
