Featured Replies

What is (are) the best place(s) for exchanging money in Samui?

"Better rate", close to Tropical Murphy - opposite XXL- Chaweng beach road

No not correct, go to a bank like Krungsri (aka Bank of Ayuthya) or Bangkok Bank. Their rates in particular are very good

Carmine, I was in Samui last month, and checked the exchange rates quite often for my personal needs, and confirm that the exchange currency point I mentioned previously, was usually higher - than BB, KR.. etc.. , by around 0.3 to 0.10 TB.

I also noticed that all " Better rate" points do not give the same exchange rate - it dépends on which bank they are close to, and on the level of competition in the area : lower rate in Lamai than in Chaweng, for instance

Now maybe is it different today..

I confirm for me better rates (blue) are the best.

They have maybe 4-5 "shops" everywhere... 2-3 in chaweng beach road...

They are the best for me, they are quite new and I love sending them customers...!

you can change at Kasikorn booth at Fisherman's Village or around the island

But I think have other place higher than Kasikorn Bank

you can check rate at my facebook page about Koh Samui

I update everyday I will post for comparing with other bank and booth later

I spend everyday here and have need to use the banks daily. It is different today with more of these booths springing up, not owned by the same people.

I am also working on the assumption that the OP wants to spend a limited time surveying rates so finding a chain of bank that is always up there with the best would be preferable.

By the way ... my response is for € / TB , and I still confirm it.

I agree with Carmine. Bank of Ayudhya regularly tops the leaugue tables for the exchange rates.

BUT... they differ by the currency that you are changing and obviously, rates differ by how much a bank wants foreign currency!

So - I always use the above link to confirm and then if your time has no value - by all means wonder around Samui wasting shoe leather or gasoline.

For me - Bank of Ayudhya is my nearest bank and does the job. My time is important to me.

Don't just look at the rate. Check any additional charges made. Some of the better advertised rates do not look so good after commissions are deducted.

Hmmm - constant updates on the US Dollar . . . I have a feeling that other nationalities are more plentiful here . . .

R

any BANK without any risk. The rates are almost same, +/- 0.05 %
