PATTAYA: -- The stand-off between City Officials and the owners of a popular South Pattaya Hotel continues, in a case which began in July 2013 and relates to the alleged illegal construction of extra floors to the Hotel which the City says need to be demolished.

On Tuesday, Khun Wittaya, head of building control at the Engineering Department of Pattaya City Hall visited the Boutique Hotel Pattaya in Soi VC in South Pattaya and was joined by workers who were preparing to enter the Hotel to begin deconstruction of floors in three separate buildings of the Hotel.

The first building which was previously 7 floors was extended to 11 floors, the second was 3 floors which was extended to 5 floors and the third building was 3 floors extended to 7 floors.

A sign in Thai language stated that unauthorized persons cannot enter the hotel but under Section 42 of the Building Control Act of 1979 the team attempted to enter the premises but were blocked by individuals associated with the Hotel.

Another example of 'do you know who I am' trumping laws.

Would not be surprised if this had several more years to run, before the place reopened.

Glad to see they're still pushing on with this but......don't they have a police force in Pattaya?

oh lets all build some extra levels on the house and hotel

and if it collaps, some tea money left & right and the problem goes away

same same as that disco fire that claimed many lives & where the fire exits were blocked and the owner got away with 0 days in jail and 0 baht paid

mai pen rai country

I bet you that they (hotel owners) are waiting for the statute of limitations for illegal building to run out wai2.gif

is it not STILL open ?

The local police (off duty and on hire) are probably among the ones blocking entrance to the hotel.

They and those tough looking chamber maids... tongue.png

How can anyone be so stupid as to add 4 extra floors onto a 3 floor building and expect structural integrity ? Shades of the hotel in Nakhon Rachasima loom in the future.

I have removed a post with an overly critical opinion of the Royal Thai. Please watch that your posts do not border on or become defamatory. Thank-you.

Why don't they use Pattaya SWAT team

All these extensions have been going on for obviously a long time.7 floors to 11,3 floors to5, and 3 floors to7. Why is it nobody wanted to do something til the job was finished------------- Give you one guess !!!! Just another example of Thai corruption
