Intrusive Adverts on the Internet

Featured Replies

Adverts normally don't bother me - I ignore them all.

As I abhor 'fashion' and 'celebrities' and all such topics that engage the mindless majority, I lead a happy and self-centred life.

However I now find that adverts on the Internet are becoming more intrusive. Before being able to access the web-site of one's choice, be it an online newspaper, magazine or site like Bedlam, one has to click past 'opportunities' to receive yet more rubbish from sponsored sites.

I am slowly having to cancel sites I previously enjoyed because of this intrusive marketing of goods/services I do not need and do not want.

How do you feel on this matter?

I just consider the visual barrage of advertising the cost of enjoying free shit on the net.

In fact, I reckon I have become rather immune to the low level stuff, however, I find that if I have to go through two or three clicks or pop-ups for crap that isn't really that important or there is a large number of sites with the product I want, I move away from the offending site quickly.

Also, I often chase heaps of dodgy shit (music related stuff :D) on the net, and find the sites with the higher incidence of pop up advertising crap have more likelihood of copping a nasty from.

i just tend to ignore it, but some are annoying IE having to watch an advert before a video, or when the advert pops up every 5 seconds, or an advert on TV mobile app which i pressed by mistake and it cost me £3.50 due to the advert calling a premium number on my phone!!!, i cancelled it straight away but still billed me

I miss the good old days of subliminal advertising.
