I have checked the Embassy website and there is no mention of this.

A couple of people have asked me this question recently, I didn't even consider it because I have not heard anyone or read anything that states it is a requirement.

But I don't want to leave anything to chance, so if anyone can confirm that you don't have to be in LOS a certain number of days before marrying would be great. I think it does apply in the Caribbean and other places around the world, but I'm hoping not in Thailand.

And just one more Q for you guys, it says that the MFA can get the documents translated same day for a fee of 800 THB, is this definately correct? As also, I need it to be because we are on a really tight schedule.

Thanks

Hi Rj,

There is no requirement to have been in Thailand for a given number of days in order to marry and, yes, the MFA do do a same day service for 800 baht.

When Mrs Scouse and I went through the process, we submitted the affirmation to the embassy on day 1, collected it, translated it, and went to the MFA on day 2, and then married on day 3.

All the best,

Scouse.

That is exactly the way I have planned to do it!

Just got to book the flights now :o

Not a problem for me either - Just the paperwork getting a certificate from your embassy stating that you are legally able to marry - A bit of a hassle.

Is there any issues about a Thai getting married overseas?

They would have to meet the local requirements.

You are right - There seems to be no impediments from the Thai Government regarding Thai's marrying abroad, just the local requirements.
