MJP Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Good to see that the government is going to disperse the protesters. Peaceful protests are annoying, but seizing government buildings is breaking the law, when they do that, they're starting to turn rabid. I think you mean 'attempt to disperse the protesters'. Judging by the volume of work to be done and the fact that I doubt they are going to move along peacefully, I would say that it is downright dangerous at this point. If they want the protesters to be dispersed, they'll be dispersed. The Yellow shirts will probably want to have some of their people killed so that they can hold them up as martyrs, but from what I've read previous "red" governments have been significantly less violent than the last "yellow" government (Probably because the red governments get their power from a majority of voters, so public perception is important. The democrats on the other hand had the army at their back, so didn't need to worry about a military coup etc) Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand What a lovely place this is. When are the neutral real majority, the white shirts I've heard people describe themselves as, going to stand together and say "enough already!"
Popular Post lemoncake Posted November 25, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2013 With the taking over of government building she has to do this as that is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE and is CRIMINAL Now its up to the Yellows if they comply which history shows they will not lets just hope the current government handles it better than the yellows did when the unleashed the military on unarmed reds the last time around. Mate , you really need to catch up. Yellows were the PAD, this is not PAD lead demonstration 8
Popular Post lemoncake Posted November 25, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2013 This is not a "Ghandi" like protest, these are the same thugs who took over the airport a few years ago They have already taken over government buildings, assulted foreign journalists who tried to report on their actions, and are in the process of taking control of the Thai television network. Ms. Shinawatra has been very patient with these hooligans thus far, with the feeling that if you give a rabid dog enough rope they will eventually hang themself, and Mr. Suthep is currently wrapping that rope around his neck. These infantile yellow shirt radicals have been allowed the right to assemble and protest for 2 days now and they have finally crossed the line like we all knew they would, it is now time to end this situation before Thailand gets another black eye like the airport debacle VERY WELL SAID Haha, right, why do not you also beat your self on the chest. So having city burned and crapped on was ok ? Occupying hospitals was ok? But occupying dis functional government buildings requires action??? Good to see so many rational thinking foreigners 11

Bender Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 if the demonstration turn nasty, the govt has the full right to restore orders! Why they shouldnt not, they are legitimately elected by the country, not like these yellow thugs! 2
SlyAnimal Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 When are the neutral real majority, the white shirts I've heard people describe themselves as, going to stand together and say "enough already!" Personally I hope that the anti corruption guy* gains more supporters out of all this. I'm not a supporter of either, although I do think that as PTP is the democratically elected government, the democrats should show a bit more respect for the voice of the people. PTP would have lost their power base within a few years anyway once people realized that their populist policies were hurting the country as a whole. Instead everything has turned into an us vs them situation, where a lot of the supporters don't vote based on election policies, but instead see their political party in the same way they see their favorite football team. Both of the big parties are too focused on beating each other that they run the country into the ground and alienate their opponent's supporters. Which then just starts the cycle all over again. * I always forget his name, but he used to own a lot of bars and got annoyed with corruption so went legit and entered politics. I doubt very much that any of the 'yellow shirts' as you wrongly put it want to have any of their own people killed just to have some martyrs. That is a ludicrous notion. Just like I am sure the red shirts didn't want their own kind killed either. The reason you noticed that red governments were less hard was because the protesters are/were/ and never will be as violent as the red shirts which of course required most harder means. There has been no set of protesters ever as violent as the red shirts. 3

Folks, call me a conspiracy nut, but I notice a certain pattern to the posts above. It's like an orchestrated campaign using a network of hired writers to promote a "product". In a perverse sense, it's like a "boiler room" operation. Hire people to push a product, and saturate a market. Is this a Thaksin manoeuvre? Hiring "literary mercenaries" to saturate web boards with propaganda? Sorry if I'm not making much sense. Need sleep. Tomorrow.

I don't think these are in fact the same yellow shirts who took over the airports. They were the PAD which is in there somewhere but no longer prominent. Now the Democrats have taken a leaf out the Pheua Thai/TRT book by mobilising their supporters from the South who must now greatly outnumber the middle class PAD from Bangkok. There are also student groups involved who were never involved in the PAD. I don't condone violence against the media but, if you look into his reports, you will find that Nick Nostitz is as much a red shirt activist as a reporter. He is not someone who was flown in from Germany last week to report on the protests for the folks back in Bad Womburg. 6

Arkady Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I am actually wondering how long it will be before she breaks under the stress of this. She does not seem like a streetfighter to me. Although Abhisit came through it pretty well in 2009 and 2010. W Her Skype phone must be ringing off the hook. If she quits, he only has a choice of his fat and ugly sister who is already an MP but not popular outside her own party faction. Maneuvering his son into place would take some as he is not an MP and wouldn't be a good choice anyway. He can't trust anyone outside the family. "No you can't resign and go on another overseas shopping trip after all I've done for you, Nong Poo. This is a die in position posting." As things get more out of control, there is a risk that she will be held responsible for something that results in criminal charges like Abhisit and Suthep. It's not going to be possible to deny all knowledge and say that some ministry will study the issue any more. Maybe she will scuttle off to Dubai afer all.

Popular Post bifftastic Posted November 25, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2013 Was this really so difficult to predict? This must be what they want, to sacrifice ordinary people in their quest for power. Disgusting. If people die, it'll strengthen the democrat position. If the protests can be dispersed without fatalities PTP should have the moral high ground (since the 2010 protests had 100+ confirmed casualties as well as hundreds of "missing" supporters (who might be dead or might have just not returned home and lost contact with friends/family after the demonstrations).
