...a massive red shirt uprising against the military...somebody has to be the caretaker...

you mean "a massive red shirt uprising against the military" like in 2010, when they tried to burn down bangkok & sacrificed dozens?

yinglack without luck could easily resign & install any successor as caretaker, as long as his name is NOT shinawatra

Dunno, if that is legally allowed by the constitution or whatever other law applies. It could be argued, that the moment she resigned, there is nobody left with power to either run the government or appoint anybody to government. That's a typical tricky issue here. Nevertheless I would prefer she washes her hands off politics altogether.

And unlike 2010 the red shirts would now NOT necessarily come to BKK but take over the provinces. They haven't been sleeping, as can also be seen from their setup of red shirt villages and zones. Upcountry, if you offer martial arts and weapons training all young and old people will come.

Actually the best to happen is that the farmers etc, who believe in the Red Shirt movement get totally disappointed by their leaders. You must make their leaders loose face in the eyes of the simple red shirts... Maybe the rice pledging fiasco is such a point to exploit.

Thaksin resigned as care-taker PM in 2006.
