Foreign Minister announces letters from various countries supporting February 2nd general election

BANGKOK, 14 December 2013, (NNT) -- In a national televised broadcast, Foreign Minister informs the public about many official letters from almost 40 countries around the globe, expressing their concerns over political tension in Thailand.

Foreign Minister, Surapong Tovichakchaikul, announced to the public that there have been numbers of letters received from the global community backing the upcoming general election on February 2nd under the constitution as a democratic way that would lead to peace and order in the country.

He also said that many countries praised Prime Minister Yingluck Shinnawatra for her decision to dissolve the parliament and for her calm and collective way of dealing with the situation without further escalating tension in the country.

Most countries encouraged all parties to deal with the problem with peaceful means and hope that Thailand will find a way out of this political tension with respect to democratic system.

The countries mentioned in this televised address are Australia, Japan, Pakistan and the 5 members of United Nation Security Council (UNSC) namely United States of America, China, England, France, Russia, as well as 28 EU countries.

Pathetic is the right word.

Now I hope the Dems will win, because who needs such a Foreign Minister? Wat does he know about the world, except maybe Dubai and Hong Kong?

And why now do they care about what others think? Because it fits in with their own oppinion, that's why. Else they would tell other countries to mind their own business...

Really pathetic!

I think this whole statement is misleading. "numbers of letters received backing the upcoming general election" That also mean that there are numbers of letters are not backing the upcoming general election probably because of the massive amount of vote buying that happens at every election.

"many countries praised Prime Minister Yingluck Shinnawatra" that also means many countries did not praise the puppet PM depends on each individuals definition of "many"

I dont believe, that representants from 40 countrys say all the same, and that they think, a new election will sove the problem. 99% that he lies, why he not show this letters? Manipulating all the time...Now Iam boring they dont leave the caretaker roll, I call "Chuck Norris"...Chuck, we need you here...clap2.gif

"almost 40 countries" support the dissolution of the Thai parliament?

Could it be because a good number of members are "dissolute"

dis·so·lute adj.Lacking moral restraint; indulging in sensual pleasures or vices.

Are posters reading this wrong ???? is the foreign minister misleading a little.

QUOTE 40 letters received EXPRESSING CONCERNS over the TENSION.

ONLY a number of letters backing the election.

This is how I read it.

How pathetic, "Look at us the government, we are so honest we have called an election (so we can carry on with our corrupt ways after February 2 because our supporters dont care) and also all these foreign countries back us. so we must be taking the right action" ....

. PDRC and Democratic party tell them no participation in any fake election without reforms, and continue the street protests.

Well atleast this government did not tell the army and police to shot people in the streets and I might add use snipers also. So there is a BIG difference.

So countries express concern and encourage all parties to find peaceful solutions and somehow the TV warriors think this is a bad thing?

What do you prefer that the countries all send a letter saying sure great idea to let some THUGS appoint THEIR buddies to a peoples council and let the THUGS decide who will be appointed and let the THUGS say they will not honor the results of any elections?

Pathetic.

I prefer the truth - honesty, ethics, and acting in the public interest in accordance with the law and regulations.

Not someone who happens to be the boss's cousin making up stories and putting spins out to try and paint a corrupt regime in a good light. Does he really think people will be dumb enough to accept this ? (Apart from your good self of course).

Trouble is, once you lie, get caught, lie again, cheat a little and then claim its all ethical, it's hard to convince anyone of anything.

This is an attempt to make it look like this regime, and its figurehead PM/DM is supported by all these countries - whereas not one country has openly expressed that support. All have chosen words very carefully so as to support democracy and peace whilst not commenting on the regime. Another PTP ham fist attempt at spinning something into positive propaganda.

The government did not tell the army and police to "shot" people in the streets because the people in the streets were unarmed and posed no violent threat.

The only violence might have been that which occurred at the gates of various gov't buildings where there was some token and quite legal resistance by security forces.

The government has been very restrained in the response to these rallies as Mme Yingluck doesn't want a war on her hands.

The only shooting going on has been our resident entertainer Mr Chalerm shooting his mouth about various things, as usual.

Not sure if his demands to the police department to arrest the dangerous Mr Suthep fell on deaf ears.

Ooooo foreign countries support elections! What else are they gonna say? That they don't support elections? Hell even China says it supports elections and it's never had one before!

Let's make it real:

1. Electronic voting using machines from independent western country that all parties can agree upon.

2. Those with valid ID only allowed to vote.

3. Allow 3-5 thousand foreign observers to watch on voting day.

4. Any politician caught buying votes gets automatic 5 year ban.

This would take a couple months to organize I think.

So. Many countries agree it was a good idea for her to stop trying to govern?

you mean like having elections and honoring results rather than appointing "good people" without elections?....

It must have been particularly gratifying for the Thai government to receive a letter a letter of moral support from Pakistan, agreeing that it was better for the pm to do what she did rather than resort to violent or unpleasant means to resolve a dispute.....

Just out of interest, did they receive a letter of support from Dubai?
