Foreign Minister announces letters from various countries supporting February 2nd general election

BANGKOK, 14 December 2013, (NNT) -- In a national televised broadcast, Foreign Minister informs the public about many official letters from almost 40 countries around the globe, expressing their concerns over political tension in Thailand.

Foreign Minister, Surapong Tovichakchaikul, announced to the public that there have been numbers of letters received from the global community backing the upcoming general election on February 2nd under the constitution as a democratic way that would lead to peace and order in the country.

He also said that many countries praised Prime Minister Yingluck Shinnawatra for her decision to dissolve the parliament and for her calm and collective way of dealing with the situation without further escalating tension in the country.

Most countries encouraged all parties to deal with the problem with peaceful means and hope that Thailand will find a way out of this political tension with respect to democratic system.

The countries mentioned in this televised address are Australia, Japan, Pakistan and the 5 members of United Nation Security Council (UNSC) namely United States of America, China, England, France, Russia, as well as 28 EU countries.

I think this whole statement is misleading. "numbers of letters received backing the upcoming general election" That also mean that there are numbers of letters are not backing the upcoming general election probably because of the massive amount of vote buying that happens at every election.

I prefer the truth - honesty, ethics, and acting in the public interest in accordance with the law and regulations.

Not someone who happens to be the boss's cousin making up stories and putting spins out to try and paint a corrupt regime in a good light. Does he really think people will be dumb enough to accept this ? (Apart from your good self of course).

Trouble is, once you lie, get caught, lie again, cheat a little and then claim its all ethical, it's hard to convince anyone of anything.

This is an attempt to make it look like this regime, and its figurehead PM/DM is supported by all these countries - whereas not one country has openly expressed that support. The government did not tell the army and police to "shot" people in the streets because the people in the streets were unarmed and posed no violent threat.

The only violence might have been that which occurred at the gates of various gov't buildings where there was some token and quite legal resistance by security forces.

The government has been very restrained in the response to these rallies as Mme Yingluck doesn't want a war on her hands.

The only shooting going on has been our resident entertainer Mr Chalerm shooting his mouth about various things, as usual.

Not sure if his demands to the police department to arrest the dangerous Mr Suthep fell on deaf ears.

Let's make it real:

1. Electronic voting using machines from independent western country that all parties can agree upon.

2. Those with valid ID only allowed to vote.

3. Allow 3-5 thousand foreign observers to watch on voting day.

4. Any politician caught buying votes gets automatic 5 year ban.
