I don't think you can run Windows programs on the Android OS but can run Android programs on Windows, Mac, or TV, using:

HOWEVER, it is possible to get a virtual windows cloud computer from hazeware (see http://hazeware.com) with Windows 7 preinstalled and ACCESS this cloud computer from your Android tablet. I want to run the Paiboon dictionary windows version on my Android phone without PAYING A NEEDLESS DOUBLE PRICE for two versions when I only need one.

So, please, which way is the best way to do this.

I only need a very simple but specialised windows program on my phone, but it was just unusable..

I find remote desktop to be better (even on 3G) and that's how I manage now.

It is just too slow unfortunately.

You are really in a snit that Paiboon Dictionary app is offered in different operating systems and you can't buy all three for the price of one. BTW, they offer it in three OS versions, Windows, Android and iOS, not two you state above

I had MS Windows XP installed on my Samsung Galaxy Note III, but found it not that usefull and removed it (the main problem was navigating with my fingers). Yes, a snit, for sure. And, I just wish they would port one to linux, as a native application.

I did ask them about using an emulator, but they would not answer, I do not believe, or maybe that email got lost.

Finally, I am glad you are enjoying the study of Thai as much as I.

This is a beautiful language that can easily become almost an obsession.

When I figure out how to run the Paiboon windows app on an android, I will let you know.

(Note: I just bought the Nexus 7 2nd gen, with 2 GB ram. So this ought to be enough horsepower to run a good emulator, or maybe not.)

There are 2 I tried on my Galaxy S2 a while back, aDosBox and AnDosBox, both available from the play store, one is paid, the other one is not. Don't remember which one is better but I ended up installing and running a Win95 on my SGS2, it was horrbly slow and useless so after playing with it for a bit, I removed it. It might work better on the newer phones... One issue you'd face is the right click of the mouse, I don't remember how it was implemented when I tried it, but it didn't work well, but I didn't try to use the real mouse plugged through the USB OTG...

Both mentioned apps are Dos emulators, from which you can run dos programs pretty comfortable (like classic dos games) and which also enables you to install the older versions of Windows. You won't be able to run Win7 and even the Win XP might not be very usable, so I'd go for a Win98. Check the requirements for your dictionary, which Minimum version of Windows it requires.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to get the Paiboon Dict apk file from somewhere and side install it if you don't want to pay for it again? Then after a while when you think they are deserving of being paid, download it from market? Windows is a pain to run on a PC, so cannot imagine how much of a drag it would be ontop of Android?

1. This sounds like a very logical suggestion. I used to totally agree with you about the Windows thing. Now, after 8.0 8.1, I am finding that Win OS 8 is not so bad, and I can actually use it as my main computer. Now, I have linux on PC, Win 8.1 on laptop, Android 4.3 on Nexus tablet, and 4.2 Jellybean on Phone. (maybe 4.4 and 4.3 I forget)

2. I am actually uncertain about how to even install the dic software. I think it must be installed from Google Play for android, but i am not even sure about this.

2b. Then, I have no idea what the proceedure for installing on win laptop might be. And, where would I even get this stuff to do a "side-install"? At one point, when I was trying to find out more about this program, I did search on the net for someone who had an extra copy, but I did not find one. Maybe it is not that popular, or maybe it is just difficult to install without some special key. Again I do not know.

2c. If you know, and can clue me in, pls do. Don't PM me though. And thank you for any further input. I like your taste in music, usually. But mine is definitely better, because I have Bach on my side.
