Owen Wilson accused of supporting whistle-blowing protester: Thailand

he's lucky the local reds didnt try to beat him up but then they only do that to women as they dont hit back. How pathetic is it when you are accused of something because you are wearing a whistle, these people are idiots.

In many civilized countries, you could be considered pathetic if you did nothing but walk around the street all day for months blowing a whistle, while supporting an anarchist that has nothing better to do but paralyze traffic, occupy and damage state property, insult the country's poor, try to escape from a corruption and murder trial and who wants to establish a communist-like "people's council" and wants to get rid of elections.

Now, tell me ...how pathetic is THAT?

And you kiss the asses of a convicted fugitive on the run and his government full of convicted criminals. How pathetic is THAT ?!

Pathetic is defined as a person who expresses an opinion outrageously on something that is of no concern to him/her and which he/she has no influence whatsoever.......thumbsup.gif

Makes sense. Everyone on this forum is pathetic, including you and me. And so is every person in Thailand, the ones at home and the ones on the street, because nobody except a select few are pulling the strings in Thailand.

Why did this story get such a response ? It's not as if Chuck Norris kicked in the doors of Government House and thrashed everyone in there. biggrin.png

Chuck wouldn't just kick the doors in Mike, he'd kick the building down and still not break a sweat. The hardest man this side of Uranus laugh.png

My fave Chuck joke : Chuck Norris heard that 'nothing could kill him' so he found nothing and he killed it !

It's not like he's said... "Hey Yingluck! My kid can beat up your kid!"

It's absurd...

But he probably can, as long as there arent 7 motorbike drivers around with steel pipes and samurai swords.

If thats the case its probably a wise move having his dad call jackie chan.

Suthep isn't an anarchist. Anarchy as a political philosophy has nothing to do with this right wing, nationalistic fascist.

Aeeh, who's this guy Oven Pilsen? Never heard that name before. Is it a "must know" name?-w00t.gif

P. S. It's Christmas, even if most people don't have the ability to walk over, or on the water.coffee1.gif

"Wilson himself was in Thailand in November for the shoot of his action-thriller movie The Coup."

Now that is ironic. Whole thing seems weird as Hollyweird.

I never liked the aspect of American culture that features the opinions of actors concerning economics, politics and other important issues. If an economist has an opinion about economics, I read it carefully.

When actors talk about issues my ears go deaf. Its like saying a mime is qualified to program a Cray.

Kinds like we go deaf when you talk about something

I've read the plot in more detail, this sounds like an extremely irresponsible movie considering the current political situation.

Well, the movie is set in Vietnam and the plot has nothing to do with anything that's going on/went on previously in Thailand. So, how exactly is it irresponsible???

"In their new overseas home, an American family soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a coup, and they frantically look for a safe escape in an environment where foreigners are being immediately executed."

Strange that the actor is allegedly supporting a group who are attempting to lay the conditions for a coup. He has either been conned or being extremely opportunistic.

your the one who is conned if you think that!

BTW it's you're... Not that I wish to be the "spelling police" but I think if you have a go at someone at least get YOUR own house in order!

You're observation is correct! how very kind of you to let me know, Please give yourself a gold star! facepalm.gifnice name prik!

Come on Owen ... Our own country (USA) is so riven with political division, discontent, and race / class hatred, that maybe you better spend your political sympathies over there. Over there in a country that Ronald Reagan almost destroyed.

What an amazing amount of heat this seemingly innocuous post has generated! I have never heard of Owen Wilson but then I am ‘of a certain age’ and from the UK, but I don’t suppose I have missed out on much with all due respect to the gentleman. But what amazes me most is the polarisation of views from the farang fraternity.

These postings and the many others on the subject of current Thai politics make me wonder about how we form our particular alliances in the first place. How many of us make up our own minds about which party or political sphere we support… without the influence of ‘received wisdom’? How many of these postings illustrate a balanced judgement of ideas and events from an outsiders point of view?

In my own case I definitely inherited my political bias from my father, a committed socialist all his life, and I always find my starting point in any political judgement is seeing it from a socialist point of view first rather than that of the said bird. When I came to Thailand I settled in Chiang Mai and ever since have mixed with Thai locals, so I soon learned that Thaksinism is good, an opinion I find it hard to shake given any of the alternatives on show. I believe in democracy and that socialist-democracy is a good form of government and better than any other yet discovered, given the paucity of philosopher-kings/rulers.

In the UK many people are ignorant and ill-informed about politics, many working class vote right wing and vice-versa. There is not the polarisation that exists in Thai political opinion; this is what concerns me abou

t Thai politics. Where is the middle ground? Is polarisation all about corruption? Must there be civil war between the haves and the have-nots before all this is ended? Perhaps. It will be between manpower and firepower!

Farangs. Please try to tread the middle ground. Forums have ears.

Seasonal greetings to all.

tingtongteesood;

I agree Thaksin may not be the best. But I wouldn't bet my last dollar on that conviction being totally legitimate. Don't forget he was convicted in absentia while outside the country when a coup d'état took place to oust him from power. By the same people who now want to deny elections by the way.

Full Definition of COUP D'ÉTAT

: a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics; especially : the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group

And in this case I do emphasize the word SAMLL , meaning less than a majority able to win an election. Instead of hating the winners, maybe they should look at why they keep loosing.

Democracy isn't perfect there is always a winning side and a loosing side. It is an adversarial system by nature.

The idiots are anyone who thinks Owen Wilson is a good actor, one of the worst I had the misfortune to see in a movie.

Right, he should support an authoritarian "democracy" that has successfully removed all checks and balances of power and only failed with their last attempts to make sure that the senate is also completely in their hands. That is the Democracy Moonao style that he should support, correct? Believe it or not, it is not about calling for a coup, but fighting against a so-called "democracy" that has all important checks removed by big brother, but you still think this is a functioning democratic system?

I thought it was the Yellow that beat up women (reporters like "Penphan Leamluang" and "Varunee Suesatsakulchai").

You are right, the red shirst don't beat up. They throw grenades.

No....we know he is trolling. Paid by the Shins, likely. I've seen this douche's posts before, all same ignorant attack on the opposition.
