Destined to Become Asia’s Largest Amateur Event for Club Golfers at 4 Hua Hin Golf Courses

HUA HIN: -- The Centara World Masters Golf Championship – from 15th to 21st June, 2014 – is expected to attract 600 amateur golfers from around the world. The event will be played at four courses in Hua Hin – Black Mountain, Banyan, Majestic Creek and Imperial Lake View.

Prizes valued at more than $US70,000 will be on offer for participants who will play in 15 different age and handicap divisions. The event is open to all club golfers (men and women) over 35 years of age with a verified handicap. It features 72-holes of Stableford competition, lots of gifts and prizes, plus nightly parties and entertainment.

The Event is based on the highly successful Mitsubishi Masters tournament that has been held on the Gold Coast, Australia, for the past 18 years. The Centara World Masters Golf Championship will quickly build a reputation as Asia’s best week of golf for club golfers. Golfers from around the world will be drawn to Thailand’s royal retreat for a great value week of golf, fun and entertainment.

Organiser, Peter McCarthy, the principal of Go Golfing in Australia, says the entry of TaylorMade-Adidas Golf as a major sponsor is a great endorsement for the tournament.

“TaylorMade and Adidas are brands synonymous with excellence in sporting equipment and apparel and so we are delighted to welcome the company as a sponsor,” he said.

“We now have leading brands in their respective fields involved in the event – Centara Hotels and Resorts, the leading hotel brand in Thailand; Thai Beverage, the brewer of Chang beer; Thai Airways, the kingdom’s respected national carrier; and Coca-Cola, the world’s leading soft drink producer.

“In addition, the Centara World Masters is backed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and we have signed D’ablo Sportswear, a local Thai apparel producer, to supply official tournament shirts for participants and staff.”

Accommodation for the Centara World Masters will be at the Centara Grand Beach Resort and Banyan Resort, Hua Hin.

Lively social and entertainment events are scheduled for each night of the tournament, headlined by international acts at the welcome and farewell celebrations.

The Centara World Masters is being organised in collaboration with Asia’s leading dedicated inbound golf tourism operator, Golfasian.
Khun Nopporn Vuttikul, Lord Mayor of Hua Hin added his welcome to the Event.

“Hua Hin City is proud to support this event through my office, recognising the importance of golf tourism and welcoming golfers specifically to Hua Hin and generally to all of Thailand’s excellent resorts.

Events like this are not only a great source of community pride; they also bring social and economic benefits to the host community. Golf tourism is one of the largest contributors to Hua Hin’s economy and supporting events like the Centara World Masters will help us achieve our goal to be recognized as Asia’s best golf destination.

I would like to thank the participants, local community, sponsors and event organizers for their terrific efforts in bringing a great golf event to Hua Hin and the Kingdom of Thailand.”
