I'm also in Afghanistan and have been for quite some time, I'm at Camp Leatherneck at the moment. I will be heading back to Surin in April.

There is plenty of stuff to do there, places to eat and drink and a quite friendly heard of old codgers in the Farang Connection and elsewhere, along with some younger ones. I've been staying / visiting Surin for over 10 years but not as much over the last few years as my wife and son live in the UK now.

Many thanks about the notice of 'ol codgers'.. we call'm geezer's... same same. As posted before I'll come in with both eyes open and be fair minded (not much more one can ask eh?) After having eaten MRE's for 9 months straight nothing short of my ex's cooking could put me off my feed sack (Texas Slang for eating)

I'll make it point to saunter down to the Farang Connection and have a look and sample the fair and might even run into you there.. Trying to get out of here last of March or mid April-ish.

Well kiddies this morning on my weekly cell call to the Land of Smiles I get the following ... " Papa's water buffalo's can no longer work and I needed to send $$ to help" OH MY GOD... I swear she said this. When I replied in a handsum man kinda of way I wasn't sending kha-ching to someone I haven't even seen face to face & only emailed for a year this wasn't how I wanted to start this dance hmmmm, she went on to get prissy-missy in a Thai kind of way of way alluding to Farang all bad...bla bla bla

So I figure I'll cash my chips in as I haven't lost nor given one Shilling, farthing or dare I say a Ten bob note and leave her and the sick buff's alone.

Evening DILLIGAD, I for one wasn't about to be taken, bamboozled or other wise go down that road again with the ladies of SE Asia, (still smarting from the last one) not saying there isn't more in the pond, but when you have been burned or worse I cut my losses early into the relationship.

I mean I could see after having met face to face ... then ease into things so to speak; but to come right out and start asking for money etc etc I don't think so Pilgrim.

Just received a phone call that something went wrong with the space cake. The two baker men fell asleep two days ago and can't be bothered now

They thought 20 grams of that black powder would be suitable for a cookie, but it should be only 0.2 gram. .

The easiest is to blame the Americans for it, because they do not follow the easiest way of measurement ,also called the metric system.
