PHUKET: -- A fight between two rival gangs left two Myanmar nationals dead and two others injured at Saphan Hin last night.

Both gangs had attended the final night of the Red Cross Fair. They ran into each other after leaving the event and a battle broke out, said Capt Udom Petcharat of the Phuket City Police.

Police called to the scene at 10:30pm found the body of Min, 23, in the middle of the main intersection near the entrance to Saphan Hin (map here).

He had been stabbed in the chest and above his right eye with a sharpened steel construction rod, Capt Udom explained.

About 20 meters away was Min Min, 26, seriously injured with stab wounds to his head, back and body, he said.

Two other men, Moo, 24, and Pao, 22, were found injured and in tears across from the Phuket Immigration Office nearby.

The men were taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

“Mr Min Min died en route,” Capt Udom said.

“We are investigating the suspects and hope to arrest them as soon as possible,” he added.

Emergency room staff at Vachira Phuket Hospital work on one of the Burmese stabbing victims.

PHUKET: Two young Burmese were stabbed to death and two more were seriously hurt in a running battle after two opposing gangs of youths bumped into one another at Red Cross Fair in Saphan Hin last night (January 5).

Both groups left the Fair but joined battle on the road outside Saphan Hin.

By the time police and Kusoldham Foundation volunteers arrived at around 10:30 pm the two gangs had dispersed, leaving four behind.

Min, 23, was already dead from stab wounds in his chest and face, apparently inflicted by a sharpened metal file.

Some 20 metres away was Min Min, 26, howling from the pain of multiple stab wounds, apparently from the same or a similar weapon. He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital, but later died.

Another two were seriously injured. Moo, 24, had been stabbed in the back and Pao, 22, near the collar bone. Both were taken to hospital where they were reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators have been questioning them in an attempt to learn the names of their attackers

Gangs fighting because they ran across each other. Ridiculous. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

At least guns weren't used. blink.png

This is Thailand: The country and culture that has so much to offer as long as you are not averse to corruption, gross inefficiency, driving carnage, daily scams and endless bullshit and random violence. Hard to resist.
