Best place to buy bougainvillea

Featured Replies

I need about 20 plants, can anyone suggest the best & cheapest place to buy them.

Thanks in advance

Best is rarely cheapest.

You can buy them in one liter plastic bags or in pots as large as about 30 liters. They grow fast so if you can wait, you will save a lot by buying small ones. What size do you want?

If you are not in a hurry, you can grow them easily for cuttings.

Khamthiang market is probably the best place to buy just about any plant. Expect to wander around for an hour or more and you may well buy other plants as well.

Agree with SamSipEt, Khamthiang market is amazing and huge. lots to choose from and not just Bougainvilleas. Anything to do with gardening can be found there.

Is that the one behind TESCO-LOTUS?

I was there yesterday, and amazing how many varieties of flowers they had, and so cheap. I bought 10 x 1 litre bags of "cocks comb" flowers for 80baht and two large hanging baskets for 80baht each.

You need to get a decent potting soil at the same time, as the flowers are mostly propagated in rice husks.

The market also has good supplies of pet food, and of course, a heap of gardening tools and add-ons.

Khamthian is good but how would you ask them in Thai for Bougamvilleas ? .Maybe bring a photo of one ?

Yep its behind or beside Tesco Lotus, depends how you look at it smile.png And most store owners/holders know the basics of English. Bougainvillea is quite a common plant but a picture does paint a thousand words.

Anything?

I want a traditional English garden spade and fork

Digging holes and planting with a mattock is useless and likely to take my toes off.

Drive around & look. It should be fairly obvious if they have it. Try SW corner.

Home pro is usually best for those, but they probably sell out quickly.

Bougainvillea = Fuang Fa in Thai

I bought a proper Fork in Global three years ago but don't know if they've still got them. I've never seen a proper spade anywhere i've been in Thailand

^ I got a proper spade in Home Pro .Stainless steel to .
