Why Thai women is so casual about spouse infidelity?

I do not know if this is just my personal experience, but every woman I met here when I was single, and now my wife, think "natural" if I have or wanted to have a "gik"....and do not believe me if I don't do. I may understand it if I was young and handsome, and my wife was old and ugly...but it is totally the opposite...and we are very happy together. Why they are not jealous just thinking about?

I know that it is very common for Thai men to have extramarital relationships...even multiple families, and it is mostly accepted by wives and girl friends, but also I know that Thai men are very jealous and never will accept the same behavior in Thai women....

Are Thai women just adapted to the "custom"?.....or Thai concept of love and commitment is different than in the western culture?

Then there is the other side of the coin. A Thai wife married to a Thai man will cheat with a farang. I'm no "hunk" by any means, but have been hit on by attractive Thai women about 40 yo or so who are married. Never took them up on it. I like breathing in and out.

Happens with me too..and always will happen specially with farangs..in any country, but here, to date a married woman is a suicide adventure, for both lovers. In western culture, infidelity is a path to divorce, here is a part of marriage. Anyway.....I posted this question because I saw many Thai men talking freely about affairs, even charming other women, in front of their wives....and doing things that I cannot comment here..I was invited many times by professional Thai married men to go out with them to karaoke bars full of prostitutes.....and with wives knowledge. I come back home alone..them...the next day.

Thailand is the #1 country in the world when HIV is contracted by wives and children because spouse behavior.

I think that is a down side of their culture.

euh, maybe because working in the sex industry is normal here to support your family instead of an office job ?

might be a signal that she has something something on the side as well...

brother, uncle ....

because as many Thai women play the same game as Thai men.

if they (male or female) are casual about it, then they might be the one doing it.

My wife just points to the kitchen knives and then to the ducks. I assure you that not all Thai ladies aren't jealous.

Hahaha! My wife makes the peace sign in a scissor action and quacks like a duck.

I've got bad news for you OP. Firstly, a Thai woman in a loving relationship would NEVER suggest that her man go have a fling with another woman. If she does, two possible reasons:

1. Perhaps she suspects you're already messing around and wants you to admit it by assuring you that it's no big deal (don't do it!).

2. She herself wants to mess around and by you engaging in it yourself, gives her justification.

The possibility also exist that she doesn't truly love you and wouldn't care if you had a fling with another.

Personally, I'd be a little worried.

Well I don't know anybody personally that has has their dick chopped off, but then I don't look that closely at the trough. I think that it is more a part of Thai culture that men get away with a bit on the side and know very few blokes that don't dabble...only 1 come to think of it, but I was assured he was lying.

What she says is not what she means....It's a trap!

Trust me, if you play around and she finds out about it.....You're gonna have hell to pay!

If you live in Thailand......Sooner or later she will find out.

Agree! Kind of like, "Up to you". That does not mean what you think it means!

Or maybe it is because Thai women themselves are the second worst female cheaters in the world. Thai men were the worst male cheaters.

"Women from Ghana and Thailand landed the top spots as the world’s most unfaithful lovers in a new survey.
According to the survey carried out by condom producer Durex on 29,000 women in 36 countries, Malaysian women came third - 39 per cent admitting they often cheat on their mates, behind Ghana (62 per cent) and Thailand (59 per cent).

My wife is the same. She also mentions "we finish, you leave without "old fella" and zero money". She left 2 previous Thai husbands because of their infidelity.

I'm not groking the duck reference? I'm sure it's a allusion to "cut dick" but do they use scissors here to behead ducks and the duck neck is ithyphallic? I thought they would use a meat cleaver ? I've never beheaded a duck.

Or are there also avian kathoeys in Thailand?

This is not limited to men having a geek. It is staggering how many women, once they get some money together, feel having a geek is something quite normal. The women who seem to condone this bahaviour in men are the same ones who will have a geek themselves given half a chance.

Lie, but just don't get caught. It is the way things work in Thailand. Most Thais rather you lie to them than having the truth. They don't want to face any problem.....unless there is a problem.

Thai women know Westerners aren't raised thinking it's normal to have a 'gik' and will capitalize on that.

However, they are formatted from birth to accept that behaviour, as they saw their own dad do it repeatedly and their mum saying it's totally ok and putting up with it.

My thought is that Western men who want a bit of fun on the side should be open and categoric about it and early on in the relationship, not behaving as though they are wrong in wanting do do so, and their gf/wife will totally accept it.

Don't, however, lie to her or try to hide it because she may lose face and that is when the major problems start.

The duck reference refers to the practice of throwing out the dismembered member to be feed to the ducks. The practice even got a mention in the UK Gruniad newspaper. As a point of interest the article finishes by saying "in a country in which fidelity is a strongly appreciated value" which is a total reverse of the ops title which suggests Thai woman are casual about spouse infidelity.

Gruniad article entitled "Why Thai women cut off their husbands' penises" here:
