Will be in Yang Talat in May for a couple of months and was planning on getting new optical glasses while there. Anyone know a good optometrist.

l read somewhere that Tesco has a optometrist, does anyone if that is the case.?

Top Charoen seems to be omnipresent, and though no bargain by Thai standards seems to have decent processes and quality control.

Very good Thai/Chinese guy on Sri Chan road in Khon Kaen. Just up from Charoen Thani Hotel on right hand side when going towards Kalasin. Much better than Top Charoen who in my experience are rubbish. There is one of their shops almost next door to the one I recommend.

Unclear. Even after years a complete mystery to me.

Thousands of shops with x*thousands of mostly female personnel sitting around most of the time.

Rumours say the whole business is a money laundering or tax evasion thing or the most expensive hobby of the billionaires wife who runs it.

On the other hand: if they do maybe 3 of these 20000 Baht deals a day it might be lucrative

I wasted more than 10000 Baht for glasses which quickly broke due to combining frame-less with lenses that were not suitable for that (as I learned later).

The only TOP Charoen that I saw somewhat busy was at Mike Shopping mall in Pattaya during high season.

That is 2x US prices for progressives. Should buy at home. But the post if from Jan.

Try on line glasses, I bought prescription sun glasses from Glasses USA, for about ฿3,500 including shipping and dury, and I am very satisfied. That's about the price of frames in Top Charoen.
