BANGKOK: -- The forward command of the Fourth Region Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) says the southern provinces were rocked by 320 bomb attacks last year.

It said the bomb attacks were higher than in 2012 when 276 attacks were recorded.

The bomb attacks were recorded from January 1 to December22 of 2013 in three provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, and four districts of Songkhla province, namely Chana, Thepa, Saba Yoi and Nathawi.

It said Narathiwat was rocked with the highest bomb attacks of 129 incidents in Tak Bai, Su-ngai Bodi, Ra-ngae, Ruesor, Srisakorn, Bacho, Waeng, Sukhirin, Yi Ngor, Chanae, Jor Irong.

It is followed by Pattani, 105 attacks, and Yala 69 attacks.

Songkhla registered 17 bomb attacks, 9 in Thepa district, 2 in Nathawi, 3 in Sabayoi, and 3 in Sadao.

But of all the 320 bomb attacks, Pattani town was the hardest hit with a total of 30 attacks, followed by Yala town 27 attacks, and Ra Ngae town of Narathiwat 23 attacks.

Districts which are not attacked are Betong district of Yala, and Chana district of Songkhla.

This means almost every day was one. My God my Buddha. This is worse than Iraq or Afghanistan.

Excluding security forces deaths there were 2700+ civilian deaths in Afghanistan and 7,000 plus in Iraq in 2013 due to terrorist attacks, there is no comparison to the deep South with significantly lower numbers both with security forces and civilian deaths, perhaps in total less than 400 deaths in 2013.
