Is there anyway to get any sort of Internet connection a couple miles outside Kalasin? My wife is going to be there for a while and I want a decent connection so we can Skype.

Thanks for any help!

it very much depends where in KALASIN you are i live 15 k out and the only option is tot

cat is around but only near main routes similar to 3bb as far as any connection out in the sticks do not expect anything more than 1mb or less at rush hours i suggest you contact these companies and ask

AIS coverage map for existing 3G coverage (so they say):

Kalasin coverage does not look too great, screenshot:

Check for your exact location.

True Move H website quite useless (as often).

Maps much to small, not sufficient.

So you/your wife have to ask/check on site.

I assume you are not interested in a DSL (fixed line) connection "for a while"?

(minimum contract is one year if memory serves me right)

Of course this would be the best option technically.

Depends much on the distance to the next main road/cable tracks.

As gerry wrote: ToT, 3BB are the companies to ask.

I live 20 km northeast from Kalasin city, about 1 km from the big road (no 213). I got True Move H last year. I just did a speed test, 5.82 mbps.

The house is located pretty far from Kalasin (Northwest). The coordinates are N16 39.890 E103 14.302

Isaanben - are you running a MiFi device with a True SIM card?

KhunBENQ - I tried AIS last time I visited, no worky.

DSL - I would pay a one year DSL contract. I don't think they even have the option of wired phones out there.

I can try True on this trip. I'll be out on Feb 16th.

Yes, I bought in the True store inside BigC. They can see if your place has 3G coverage.

Isaanben - I will try this. I have a MiFi device and I tried the AIS card since I was told that they had the best coverage in her area. I will try TRUE.

Now that I have the coordinates: yes sure, out of reach currently for AIS.

Very remote area. You must be from Texas or Australia, as you wrote "a couple miles outside Kalasin" smile.png

And as said: True Move Website quite useless although they seem to claim coverage in the specified district (Nong Kung Si?).

So have to checkout on your visit.

To the southwest near Yang Talat True H will provide 3G around the 213, but not in my village about 3 kilometres off the highway. In locations like that True defaults to GPRS edge, which is not quite good enough for voice communication in my experience.

I am here at the coordinates, connected to the Internet. The solution - SIM card, MiFi, AIS card - I am amazed how well it works! Did a FaceTime and it was almost flawless.

Thanks everyone for the help, it encouraged me to keep researching.
