MOPH concerned about skin, gastrointestinal diseases at rally sites

BANGKOK, 29 January 2014 (NNT) – The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday expressed concern over the possibility of protesters contracting skin and gastrointestinal diseases, and made suggestions on personal hygiene at rally sites.

Dr. Phonthep Siriwanarangsan, director-general of the Department of Health, suggested that protesters exercise good hygiene practices in the restrooms and while eating.

He also said they should wear clothes that offer protection against the sun and stay hydrated. He added that sleeping gears and clothes should be cleaned, and a single undergarment should not be worn for days on end without washing, as doing so would promote growth of fungus. If access to water was difficult, rally-goers should carry alcohol gels to keep their hands clean.

Dr. Phonthep also said trash must be collected regularly, and leftover food should be disposed of in trash bags that are then sealed, in order to minimize the risk of contracting diseases from flies.

bit of the deli belly going around and sun burn ? shame, i'm sure they have plenty of Eno and Nivea skin whitening crap to go around :)

Chalerm's new tactic to disperse the protesters: scare em off with talk of diseases.

The odor around these protest locations must be extraordinarily pungent.

It was funny to see them being turned away from a boutique shopping mall in Ratchaprasong. The expression of outrage and DYKWIA was most amusing. The security guard was having none of it and...well done him

And perhaps some protective foot wear, rubber variety. blink.png

Well its their own fault, why worry let them catch the worms

In Mongolia we have a proverb:

" Desert flower is Red, Sand is Brown

Dresses up, Trousers down"

The protestors don't need advice about gastrointestinal crap problems of their own. They can deal with that fine. They might, however, need medication, for the crap which is continually being dealt to them; from the bigger toilet, that is!

This is a lot of crap coming out of the protest leaders mouths.

What hypocrites.......they were accusing the mayor and private firms for providing toilets to the protesters, and they were going to prosecute themwhistling.gif

Yeah, but that was a week or so ago, new thinking now. Something else tomorrow - stay tuned.

Oh wise one, you should write a book of proverbs.

It's getting more and more interestingthumbsup.gif

Be sure to wear extra protection from other harmful elements, like kevlar or dragon skin.

I'm surprised no one has tried to blame this on Thaksin. I was anticipating one of those convoluted theories that would insist that the government had infected people and now they were turning into zombies.

Might be even more then that. It could be aids - I mean they are there day and night - anythin can and could happen. I mean who knows?

Maybe a golden shower is more practical biggrin.png

Worried a tan may make them turn all red democratic, start respecting the opinions of others and choosing to take part intalks elections with the sunburnt.

Some of those areas smell like sh*t and piss its disgusting and they should be ashamed. They use toilets? The places I saw they just used tarps and pissed on the sidewalk. Parasites getting parasites. Most of the hardcore protesters seem like someone rounded up all the homeless and old people gave them a burlap sad and some choc.

sleep with the dogs and they catch flees

Getting wounded or killed by grenades and gunshots are also not very healthy either. Maybe the Health Ministry should hand out flyers about how to "Duck & Crawl."

hygiene?

come on... how many of those even wash their hands after they go take a dump ?

some water in the hair and off they go
