Getting a visa - elsewhere besides Bkk?

Featured Replies

I would like to sort out a tourist visa for Myanmar (my UK passport) - I intoned to visit in mid-April. Are they obtainable outside of Bkk? I don't really want to have to go into town at the moment.

You don't state where else in the region you'll be travelling to. If you're in China, Kunming is dead easy for Myanmar visas. If in Laos, Vientiane is just as easy. Phnom Penh would work too. For some reason Vietnam is stricter, but I don't know why.

I'm in Chonburi,

They may well be able to, but I'm rather reluctant to drive into BKK at present.

If they had a consulate in Pattaya or somewhere outside Bkk, it would avoid all the potential traffic problems.

Bangkok is the only Myanmar embassy location in Thailand as you are aware.

I did have somebody PM me last year to ask a similar question about getting it sorted through a travel agency in Pattaya who could send the passport and forms etc - didn't hear back as to whether they were successful or not.

Suggest trying some of the larger travel agencies nearest to you and see if they have a service to do this.

Otherwise its a trip to Bangkok.

My secretary got me a business visa for Myanmar this week. So the embassy in Bangkok is open.

Take the Skytrain rather than a car, is my suggestion. But then, for that area, I would always take a Skytrain because of the parking situation, regardless of any protesters.
