Maybe he can explain first to the world outside how he and his merry little PTP thieves raped Thailand and its farmers for everything they've got.

Yes, and at the same meeting, perhaps the leader of the Democrat Party, Mr. Abhisit, could explain why he ordered troops to open fire on crowds of civilians when he was PM. Now, that would be an interesting exchange of ideas.

Except that's not what he did.

What would be interesting would be to ask the army why they didn't follow orders and why the last government didn't investigate the army even though they promised justice for those killed.

Wow this is serious. Thais actually asking for outside help so just when did they discover there was a world outside the national borders ?

Be fair! They know quite a few places outside Thailand . . . Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Montenegro, Cambodia . . . all great places to go meet the boss when he's off on another spending spree and all have great Skype connections for when they just can't tear themselves away from the pressing problems at home..

Thaksin's cousin again assumes centre stage, but Thaksin's gambit to rally international opinion has already failed. Everybody is aware it's a complete mess. These same countries have, after all, issued travel warnings. None of those have been rescinded. And this press conference won't appease anxieties. They are also far more aware of what the Yingluck administration has done in office than Surpapong or Thaksin would ever be comfortable with. The solutions to Thailand's problems will never be solved through the administration's international narrative, let alone Surapong's vacuous assurances. It is a domestic crisis. And a profound one, at that. One that no police crackdown will bury, as hard as this administration tries.

Are you serious? All that Suthep and the Dem's have achieved in the last three months is to make Thaksin look almost good to the rest of the world.

Let me set you straight mr. red sheeple. Those 'civilians' were terrorists armed with stolen military weapons who were rioting and causing all kinds of chaos. They had killed many soldiers before the 'crackdown' and the government had shown great patience up to that point. The reds refused the offer for elections and normalcy had to be restored. The rioters made a concious decision to fight to the death in he name of the fugitive Taksin. Taksin is responsible for their deaths. His propaganda networks including Asia Update tv, Voice Of Taksin magazine, his terrorist 'leaders' whipping the brainwashed into a murdrous frenzy at least 3 of whom are now serving caretaker MP's. Abisit did nothing wrong.

Son, you can forget about your career in propaganda because when you spin yarns with little or no basis in fact that qualifies as fiction, not propaganda. You could write a novel with your wild imagination however.

The government side is asking for foreign nation support because it is their best move. It would be difficult for so-called democratic nations like the US and UK to support a rogue leader like Suthep and his "people's council"designated by 185 inside establishment folks. So Surapong is seeking to leverage that assumption.

hmmmm ...... US & UK don't seem to have any problem with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc etc etc ....

it's not really about democracy ...

If an independent council or whatever is set up to recommend political reforms .... watch the US and UK support it.

Desperately need to try and get some "friends". If YL's latest promise to pay the farmers is another lie then the shit really will hit the fan. Then PTP will have to use force.

They cannot risk any other administration, no matter how made up, elected or appointed, getting a look at the books.

The international community want to come out but last time the US made a statement in support of Yingluck, an army of yellow shirt boneheads stood outside the US embassy and had a hissy fit.

Most want to keep out of it because they don't want to stir up these yellow shirt idiots, but really, they should grow a pair and just do the right thing and condemn these anti democratic power grabbing morons on the international stage.

Well Harry, all your magic tricks won't change reality. Turn off Bluesky Channel and go out take a look at the real world.

Yet the existing caretaker government is led by an individual who doesn't recognise the rule of law, and has in its ranks, MPs who have been involved in violations of the law - corruption apart.

Suraprong's talents are another example of the inexperience of this caretaker governments in management.

He seems like a good fit for the promotion of tourism to Thailand. At least he would have a potential audience of close to 200 countries for him to lie to. He may need to do personal soliction as the mass media appeal method leads to comparison of what has been said, accomplished and observed by a common audience.

This man may be one of the few who was declared as incompentent when weaned from the teat.

Actually you're only partly right. Of the cases so far investigated I believe none of those killed were rioting or posing a threat. That being the case there was no justification for shooting them. That would seem to be borne out by the ROE so the army were responsible for not following orders but aren't being investigated.

The Western world is inclined to support the principle of governments that come from free and fair elections, as long as they are not radical Islamic governments or pro-Putin governments. However, even in the case of a coup they would not cut Thailand off. They would just cut off some aid budgets which are now almost nil, weapons sales and joint exercises. Nothing that would make any different. But Thaksin thinks this is very important since he found the Western media promoted him as a hero of democracy and a Robin Hood after the 2006 coup.

The Robin Hood image has received a bit of a dent over his failed rice pledging scheme.

According to this lot they already had the backing of the world democracies as per their bull crap for the last few months, so why seek it now.

I think you will find most countries have said the support and will continue who ever is in government. Foreign governments don't take sides and don't care who is driving the bus.

"Foreign governments don't take sides and don't care who is driving the bus"

Exactly! But what they do care about is free democratic elections unhindered by reactionary thugs.

Foreigners must understand that Democrat claims the Thai government is ruled from abroad by the head of one elite family is false. Neither is it true that the Shinawat family members control the government said the un-elected party list MP Surapong, cousin in law of Thakin's sister the Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawat and himself the Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Leader of the ruling party Pheu Thai and Head of CAPO.

It's just that with Thaksin's grandfather having twelve children and his dad nine there are just too many Shinawats on Shinawat Island.
