Because I guess they found out that in fact it's Bangkok that the shitehole of anger and violence while pattaya is the City of Love. Maybe grabbing them and taking a snap and posting the pics on Facebook/Instagram with it prominently noted it was taken in Pattaya would warn them off.

Correct. Bangkok was one of the available R&R destinations but Pattaya was not. The troops had one week, and while some may have wandered down, most likely did not

However, there were any number of Air Force guys stationed at Utapao, and it is very likely that they spent their off hours, between loading up B52s in Pattaya. I have no idea of the impact that that had.

Some people need to slum it from time to time just to realise what they have.

Others like to help the less fortunate with their tourist dollar.

And, although they would NEVER come here, they seem to be amazingly well informed as to what goes on here (or at least what their fertile imagination think they would be doing if they were here).
