Day Trip To Phi Phi

Featured Replies

We'll be staying a few days in Phuket in January. Is it reasonable to do a day trip to Phi Phi or is it preferable to stay overnight there?

There are dozens of day trips available every day to all island destinations around Phuket. Your hotel will have many pamphlets or you can go through an agency.

For an unhurried look at Phi Phi, overnight would be best if you can fit it into your schedule.

I always suggest using the boat "Phi Phi cruiser". A few baht extra, but large, covered in and toilets on board. I f you are a diver, then overnight is best.

Personaaly I think Phi Phi is over-rated.

IMHO a daytrip might be a waste of time, you just havn't got the time to appreciate anything .it is better to stay over a night or two.

Yes stay a night or two, its a great place and need more then 1 day to enjoy the place.

Well if you just want a quick look then yes its worth it, but day toures are well regimented and you are always on the go.

Thanks for the advice.

We'll be in Phuket for only 4 days. Which day trips would you recommend?

kai island for snorkling and beach, or koh racha as not as long a boat trip as phi phi

January is the PEAK tourist season. I suggest you take a day-charter tour on a yacht that offers snorkelling excursions - or even hire a longtail boat to take you to a closer island destination from Phuket than Phi Phi. It will be so much more memorable than spending a few hours with thousands of other tourists on "sardine packages".

Cheers! :o

I went in peak season also, my suggestion is that you spend 2 nights there and oin your secong night you should hire your own boat with a driver and get him to take you around the places, its pretty cheap and you can take your own time

James Bond Island is a pile of crap. There are far more beautiful limestone carsts to see in Phang Nga Bay. James Bond Island is where all the "Uneducated tourists" go. Hundreds of speed boats daily???????

It's worth a look due to the Bond reference, but would you spend significant time there, probably not. :o

Sound good to me. In any case I'm not a big James Bond fan and I don't know anything more about Phi Phi than any other island. Is it any problem finding a "day-charter tour on a yacht" for only 4 people?? Have any idea how much it might cost?

the Chao Koh group do a pretty much inclusive day trip for about 1000 for adults and 700 for kids ... mostly just on a boat ... but there is some snorkelling at Maya .. and a ride around the islands and some time on PhiPhi for lunch etc
