Logic would dictate that these were caused by anti-government supporters in the supposedly "Red Stronghold". However, this is Thailand, where "logic" has no bearing, so who knows?

But living in CM, this is something I've been expecting to happen, so it's not exactly a surprise.

Edit for Typo

logic says that those who are known for violence, bomb, gun and grenade attacks and who are talking about war and wardrums are those who did this.

Not those who are not known for this kind of violence

Logic also says, that the more of one of those groups are in that area tha more likely it is they did this.

(And btw everyone knows anyway - by common sense)

If this happened in the US it would have been the largest terrorist attack since 9/11 and been headline news all around the world with 24/7 coverage, 24 hour lockdowns and curfews in place with house to house searches for all who happen to live nearby.

I don't know if this is true,

but do you think

throwing bombs is an adequate answer to blocking a business ?

I understand from red shirt supporters here, that the majority of ppl in Chiang Mai are red shirts. So if the red shirts in Chiang Mai want to bomb Chiang Mai, I suppose we should support that majority decision? (No, I do not know who threw the bombs, just saying if it was indeed the red shirts, then maybe the bombing was righteous?). Anyway, if the good people of Chiang Mai want to bomb their city, separate it from Thailand, cover it with smoke or whatever they want, I think the rest of Thailand should support their decisions, as long as they confine it to Chiang Maismile.png

Thank you Mr Suthep for bringing the violence to Thailand.

If he did he maybe copied it from the reds in the BKK siege years ago.

well the red shirts are starting to talk tough but this is Chang Mai for crying out loud...ptt, berr co? and and a restaurant? ... anyway - with the court ruling the election void and no end in sight for reform or election things will get dicey now.. nobody in charge... I think the military will have/must to step in and call it a day for Suthep and Badluck... no real other way to run this country now... call for reform by the military - at least they don't take 30% off the top on deals? but they can restart the government... say a military coup but now that isn't even the case as there is NO GOV... 5 5 5 somebody please step in on this... won't say no more but the Big Guy or Army could help...otherwise we are looking at a few months of more chaos and nobody in charge... also we have the farmers that haven't gotten paid yet...maybe some poor farmer will take over the gov? could do a better job than Badluck methinks... but hey let's not give all the countries money away for vote getting this time? have to shut down the paid higher price for rice scheme/scam anyway as it has to stop... oh well - thai time... have to wait but I would think that the military COULD pull Suthep and Badluck intothe saem room for a week of negotiations and iron out a reform package and call for a vote in say 2 month? 5 5 5 ok me just dumb falung... me know nothing...

Red shirt training day no doubt.

It is about the right sort of intellect that you would expect from Jatuporn and his idiots.

If it were near suthep's house i would say yes , but this is not so I have to say it was suthep's thugs.

'diehard60' postings are similar to the tactics of the perpetrators who cowardly throw grenades and run.

Come on BiB get cracking !!

Winnie - you are going to have to change your username to "Mister Blue" because that is what color you will be when the police actually start doing anything.

And in a seminar held by one of our famous universities Thai journalists have a chance to learn about the difference between a bomb and a grenade.

Don't forget to include the big crackers as well. I don't know what are they, but seems to be very popular here with the locals. Is this something to do with the principle of non violent means, so instead of a bomb or a grenade, fire crackers are ok. Non violent.

Well if he did try to copy it from the nefarious Red Tshirt Gang, they're doing a rather poor job. Why those Reds have shown that they are masters of wreaking havoc, leaving a path of blood, death and destruction in their wake. Suthep and his rather sublime & tame crowd haven't begun to even come close to matching those blood-thirsty & blind, angry Red troglodytes!

This is one of suthep's tactics.

"The targets were a seafood restaurant, a petrol station and a brewery that has faced criticism because of its controlling family's links with anti-government protesters."

One would have to wonder why sutheps thugs would bomb one of his supporters property.

I'm already negative over having to keep my windows shut and the need to wear a mask when I leave my place ( = bad quality of life ). Now I'll add trying to avoid random grenade attacks to the list.

Sutheps popcorn bandits and henchman.

This guy will stop at nothing. He is a maniac together with the fake monk who is still holding everyone hostage.

But again, this it tit, an it seems that what ever you do if you are connected you can get away with anything.

Smog, bombs..... God, it's enough to make one have a week on the beach.

Oh, wait! We left CM for the clean air on the beach already...... ???

Quick ! Rush to the beach while it's still there, with an A320 GWC (Global Warming Contributor). That's today's good common sense, called modernity.

There is logic, if you can call it logic, coming from the red leaders heads.

They are trying to create headlines and get sympathy from the Thai people.

They have no morals and they are criminals.

And they will carry on and on...........don't expect the police to identify them.

I suspect that the vast majority of politicians on both sides could potentially be thought of as criminals - street politics normally leads to violence no matter who is protesting. Unfortunately a few high profile examples (like Ukraine) give people the idea that protest is the way to get things changed but that is wrong because it becomes mob rule by the more powerful group. The purpose of government is to represent and serve everyone fairly - not that this happens too often!

Did you see Suthep mentioned at all in this report? Or maybe you were there and saw him? Please tell us all?

It's am civil war now. That's what is. For me it's a great opportunity to use this as a reason to leave Thailand, a country I have not liked very much, but only been here because my wife wanted to stay here for a year. I look forward to the sanity and quality of life in HK or Singapore.

Maybe the Police can give you a job....no need to investigate you have all the answers.
