When it was first installed it was very good & still is most of the time but for the past couple of months there are periods, almost on a daily basis, when the connection drops out every 2 minutes or so. Extremely annoying & was wondering if anyone else is having the same experience. I am in Chalong & despite repeated complaints a technician has only been here once, declared all is well & upgraded the firmware in the modem. About 3 other complaints have not been responded to.

I've had it since it was first available. Slowly deteriorated and I was close to changing a while ago because of the problem you have had. Then after a day with no internet, suddenly it was much better again. They must have been working on the cables. But it didn't last and it's back to normal again, regularly dropping and sometimes offline for a couple of hours.

3BB doesn't seem much better, as we've had similar issues both at home and the workplace. I'm wondering if it's a Phuket internet problem.

We're in Karon (True cable and 3BB) and Kata (only 3BB).

Does anyone here have genuinely reliable internet? If so who is the supplier?

In Chalong, was on TOT 3mb, 690 baht. Crap connection, always dropping out, very slow in the evenings. Service rubbish, took more than a week for a tech to come out last time. Neighbour the same.

We both switched to BBB, 10mb, slightly cheaper than TOT, infinitely faster and more reliable.

Have to agree that even 3BB service has had some short outages these past few months. I just assume it's the high season usage that occurs each high season. I've given up with TOT, just canceled our last 2 TOT services. They are far to slow to service problems, expect 2 or 3 days to react. At least 3BB turn up quick quickly, often same day.

I've replaced the cancelled TOT service with 3BB 30 Meg fiber system at each of our locations (1 in Kata and 2 in Patong). Now in our 3rd month of service, can't say it's so great, in fact it's been disappointing so far. Fiber Cable cut at one location, took 3BB 4 days to replace the cable (different team, need the installation team), and one 3BB supplied fiber router completely failed. Engineer came out next day and agreed with my diagnosis that router needed replaced, took 4 days to get a replacement from 3BB. Speed seems very variable, mind you I streamed the BBC formula 1 qualify live yesterday without much stuttering. See how it goes for the race this afternoon.

I'm on 3BB wifi in both Kata and Rawai. Use 3BB in both locations frequently, in Rawai all my TV programmes stream through 3BB, have given up on the satellites. And I'm happy with it. Sometimes an outage, but hardly worth mentioning, and hardly ever interferes with computer or tv.

I have noticed over the years that good, reliable service seems to swing from one provider to another. The reason I switched was because I had TOT fibre, ADSL before that, with pretty good service & response times if any problems which were rare. Then one day the fibre dropped to 10% of its original speed, like someone had flipped a switch. The same thing happened to their ADSL. Others reported the same thing. After months of haggling with TOT & trying to get a straight answer one of the staff finally admitted that was how it was. He also stated that fibre is really fast within Phuket but once you connect anywhere outside of Phuket both fibre & ADSL go into a single line & then of course all is restricted by the less than needed international bandwidth the providers have.
