Learning Thai In Bkk

Featured Replies

I have read a lot about the different schools and methods for learning Thai in Bkk, however I was hoping that the forum community might help by lending their experiences. Im thinking of staying in Bkk for 3-6 months to learn the language, mainly speak and get some reading and writing basics in that time. What are the pro's and con's for the classic structured class and text type study as compared to the experiential type AUA type structured course. My spoken Thai is rather basic.

Thanks for any advice! :o

I really recomend you buy yourself a grade 1 text book as per the Thai children use. and get yourself a Thai teacher from a BKK school. One who can speak enough english to explain to you the meanings of different words and how to use them.

Once your Thai is good enough to have everything explained to you in Thai than cut the english translation out and have everything explained to you in Thai. I doubt you will get to that level in 3-6 months though...

You may be able to get a Thai teacher to teach you every afternoon for a around 1000 b a week for an hour a day. This is far more beneficial than going to any language school.

Good luck with your studies.
