Tourist visa for 65 days?

Featured Replies

Sorry to have to ask, I've tried to search this forum but there's just so much of it.

I'm a UK citizen, employed in the UK, coming to LOS for 65 days holiday - as a sort of pre-retirement test trip. Normally I'm in LOS for 3-4 weeks only, so the airport non-visa stamp is all I need, this time I'll need to get a proper visa before I travel.

What visa should I apply for (in the UK before leaving) and where should I apply (postal) please?

I'd rather not have to extend if possible - just because it's a nuisance - and I'd REALLY rather not have to leave the country.

Thanks

A single entry tourist visa will give you a 60 day entry. You would need to apply for a 30 day extension at immigration. The extension is simple to get and can be done at any immigration office during the last couple of weeks of your 60 day entry. The cost will be 1900 baht.

You can apply by post to the embassy in London. Info: http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/401

Sorry to bump this, but I'm now at the stage of applying and I've got a bit stuck on filling in the visa application form.

It asks for "Duration of Proposed stay:". My worry is that if I put 65 days, then the application could be refused as it's over the 60 days of the single entry tourist visa. I know that I can extend it at immigration, but will it cause me issues when I apply for it in the first place? I could put (say) 59 days, but that would be a lie, which makes me nervous too.

Thanks

Tell the truth, and put a note saying you intend to get the extension whilst in bangkok to cover the period before your return flight.

Joe. Does one need to extend at the bkk or can do so in any of the immigration in the region?

You can apply for the extension 30 day extension at any immigration office as long as you have a local address to put on the application form. The address can be for a hotel or any other type of accommodation .

I wouldn't put 65 days on the form.

Why ? In the application form you have to tell the truth !

Because a tourist visa only lasts 60 days. Sure you can extend it by 30 but it is not guaranteed. It has the potential to create a problem for no reason so why do it? Member could ask for a double entry I suppose.

Well, I'm going with honesty, I'm just not comfortable with lying. In the post now, I'll report back on how I get on.

Thanks all for the advice.
