The strange part about him is he will occasionally post some really good information on the Chiang Mai forum. For some reason he is completely missing the boat at the national level.

I know that there was a lot of business owners who did not like Abhist. I wonder if it had any thing to do with the fact that when he was elected corruption was rising very fast and he managed to hold it. Now it is on the rise again.

Let's see here now Yingluck was elected in August of 2011 screwed up the handling of the flood and kept saying give me six months. In the mean time the corruption started rising again. in 2013 it rose 2%. today she is still out of touch with reality. She is wide open to any thing that is corrupt. I think in the circumstances there is considerable justification for considering that Thaksin and his clan are a menace to this country, The use of the word 'hater' which seeks to emotionalise and downgrade the facts is all your creation. Mrgk, I appreciate you accept that Thaksin may be a menace to the country but respectfully, I disagree with several other aspects of your post.

Corruption is indeed a major part of it: numerous aspects to this but I will state one - the difference between the anti-Thaksin protesters and the Thaksin clan and their supporters is that the former wish to address the corruption issue going forward, at least, that is what they say and thereafter it is subjective whether or not one believes them. Personally I think that if the protest movement has been built on that premise something good of it must come provided they are given a chance. The latter on the other hand totally deny that corruption exists but at the same time thrive on it to their own benefit. Allowing for some differences of opinion between us as to the precise facts there is still therein a world of a difference between what I would call simply 'good' and 'bad' intentions, at least as stated.

The use of the term 'loathing' and I am reiterating my earlier post here, only serves to try and emotionalise one side of the two camps when even if accurate, it actually applies both ways.

I would ask (but please don't try and provide an answer as I can get that better from history books) what all the 'hard-won democratic developments' you refer to precisely are and how they manifest themselves in this country's joke that some people (namely the incumbent but failed caretaker government) term a 'democracy'?

1.4 million farming families are also running low on cash after being bilked in the rice pledging scheme. Perhaps that was the government's shrewd strategy - to make sure they had no money for the next rice planting, so that they would have no choice but to take the work offered as rent-a-mob.
