'Some squid qualifications' Don't you think you going a bit overboard with the squid thing? rolleyes.gif

It's obvious to even the most clueless TV poster that it is a list of humorous observations.

It is Not How You Ride, When You Ride, Where You Ride, or What You Ride

i'd say "it is important whom you ride... or let ride."

True That !!

Some squid qualifications- I'm guilty of a couple:

You ride wearing cut-offs, sandals, and a mesh tank top.

You saw the SQUID movie "Biker Boyz." Twice.

You have any "NO FEAR" decals on your motorcycle.

...

Some more from Urban Dictionary.

1. A young motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities, boasts of his riding skills when in reality he has none. Squid bikes are usually decorated with chrome and various anodized bits. Rear tyres are too wide for their own good, swingarm extended. Really slow in the corners, and sudden bursts of acceleration when a straight appears. Squids wear no protection, deeming themselves invincible. This fact compounds intself with the fact that they engage in 'extreem riding'--performing wheelies and stoppies in public areas. Squids wreck alot. Derived from 'squirly kid'

also see stunta

We were suddenly passed by a chromed out R1 and then when we rounded the bend, we saw the squid wrapped around a tree, he'd probably be alive if he was wearing a helmet.

2. An extremely rare animal with a short lifespan. Usually a new sport bike enthusiast with the reasoning of a lunatic, whom you might see thrashing on an R1 wearing sandals, shorts, and a tee.

When found lying motionless on the pavement, this creature transforms itself into a stream of blood, exposed flesh, and broken limbs. Hence the squid moniker.

Stupid

Quick

Underdressed

Imminently

Dead

Did you see that guy leave the showroom on the R6? Did you see what he was wearing? What a moron. That Squid.

4. 'Squid' is a contraction of "Squirrelly Kid", and comes from So Cal racers who were also involved in the Surfer culture.

Though the term is now widely used to describe street riders of questionable cornering skill, questionable judgement in demonstrations of horsepower and braking, questionable judgement in the protective clothing worn, and very questionable judgement in his/her friends, the meaning was actually developed at the racetrack.

Back in the day before trackdays (an organized event to allow anyone with a motorcycle and the price of admission to gain familiarity with a racetrack and learn to ride faster, more safely than on the street) were common and new racers frequently had no track experience - hence their unpredictable behavior and unsteady lines led to them being labelled "squirrelly", as unpredictable surfers (or surfing conditions or surfing equipment) were also called.

From there, the term made it to the canyons of Southern California (a popular means to risk one's hide while demonstrating riding skill at speeds well over the posted limit), then out to the rest of the world that reads about So Cal in magazines and apparently strives to be just like So Cal.

"I really hate dealing with the street squids riding over their heads in the 'A' group at Buttonwillow."

"That trackday org is all about getting money from the squids who don't know better."

"Yeah, there was another squid taken off Palomar in an ambulance this morning."

There are more squid definitions at the UD link above, some don't apply, but hilarious nevertheless. :D

I agree with the OP but i don't really like the term "soi dog" in relation to forum members. Imo we should stick to the term trolling. Everybody knows what trolling means. Calling others dogs is just another offense without adding anything more descriptive. "Acting like a pack of trolls" imo thats what it is, sometimes.

Soi dogs was in reference to the barking and howling that a pack of dogs makes. Does no good, and just serves to irritate anyone reading or posting on the topic.

If you wish to contribute, or offer assistance, I am all for it.

But to insult peoples ages, supposed lack of intelligence, or what they see as poor taste is the exact behavior that an unruly pack of dogs exhibit. I ride ... So if you don't agree with me I will question your motives, age, shoe size, length of your member, or any other thing I can think of.

Just like a pack of dogs baying at sweet FA.

Why We Ride

Because we can't fly.

smile.png

I've tried parachuting, hang-gliding, ultralight aircraft flying, rock & ice climbing....

If I was 45 30 years younger, I' give this flying-suit sport a go for sure.

Seems safe enough.

Thanks.

op advice for you:

if you are that scared from soi dogs, better quit riding your honda wave.

or if you dont like some people here then quit writing here too. you were mentioning another forum, maybe you go write there.

i really dont understand people like you maybe that is why i am riding just to be away from guys like you.

so stop bitc.ing and moaning and decide what you will do.

I don't think he said he was scared of Soi dogs, more irritated by their continual and pointless yapping.

i think he was and allan, are you the advocate of the OP?

Let him answer. it is like him sh.tting around and never turning back again to clean and you like to clean it?

And who decides the continual/pointless yapping, you? So it is like you dont like or agree on what someone says and it is pointless and continual yapping for you? c'mon! dont be funny guys.

classification of people as dogs are good for you Allan? Is it a good point for you?

in other words, sorry state of human being!

This whole thread is nothing but harmless banter don't you know and banter usually involves caricatures, so don't be so sensitive. giggle.gif

Am I an advocate of the OP, yes why not? You and your chums are suggesting we be afraid of Soi dogs? And I am suggesting there is no need.

Still bitc.ing for dogs?

If we need something irritating, we just look at your sorry state and your divisive nonsense bs thread and most of your posts.

You are just a simple minded person that cannot take others' ideas or words and once this happens you blame them for things. Dogs, puppies and bs!

Check your ego man. Go to a temple and stay therr for a while. I stayed months in temples up himalaya in nepal and it worked long years ago. Please try as sad to see someone at your stage.

Moreover, I tell you, your words are enough to get you trashed if you sit down talking these face to face. Pray god.

And talking about contribution, we can see your real face and real contribution exactly from this thread.

Well wantan, now you sound like no temple on earth can sort you well:lol:

Wantan and his poor judgements.

And instead of judging someone that can open such a divisive bs thread dircted disrespectfully towards a handful of people here just bc someone does not like their ideas, we can see where you - wantan the most objective judge can reach.

Usual story.

Waiting an aplogy from the OP and continue to criticise him until we get one on this thread.

The only one to take offense is you. I never said anyone was a soi dog - I was describing a group of posters on this forum. You took that on yourself.

Apology !!

Patience is a Virtue.

Taught in the hills of Nepal I think.

Apology is accepted and i am cool now seedy.

Man i just take these kind of things serious even maybe it is not directed towards me. I take things easily i know maybe that is my problem but if it is classfying people especially riders, i just cannot hold myself.

And no physical threat of course but some might get angry for some of your words face to face.

Sorry if i offended you too.

You know we have common interests; motorcycling and bikes so lets focus them!
