Does anybody know if it is possible to take a minibus from Penang to Hat Yai on the same day after you get a visa at 15:30? I checked with Easibook, and according to their web site the last minibus to Hat Yai leaves at 15:00. Are there any minibuses that pick you up at Thai embassy after that time?

Well you won't get picked up at the consulate office....it's in a residential area ..... you'll have to get back to the hotel district... (not that far) and find where buses leave ....

While you wait the day or so, while they do your visa, search out the buses to Hat Yai..... I would think there would be several choices... ask the agencies for choices... fares and times... .

I thought the bus station was in Butterworth.

Mini buses would leave from Chulia street area, either by the ferry or over the Penang Bridge....I could not remember Chulia street name in last post ^).... OP needs to just ask ticket agentsthumbsup.gif

It's been a few years since I did the bus, but I know I went directly to Hat Yai from Penang... and not from Butterworth!.wink.png

More recent trips I have done on my motorbike... wink.png

Once a year I have to do this trip, samui - penang and vice versa, and almost make it to the last boat to go to Samui.

Last year I was 15 minutes late to the boat (6 or 7 o'clock boat i am not sure) so I think a bus could make it to Hat Yai before closing time.

Pick-up time for the visa was from 14:00 hours.

Drop your passport off with any agent in Chulia Street.

They will arrange for you to leave Penang with passport and visa, on a mini bus, at around 2:00 pm.

Unfortunately that means either an overnight stay in Had Yai or messing about with the night ferry from Surat Thani - looooong journey.

If you speak to Jim, for an extra fee, he will sort you out with passport and mini bus at midday. And that will get you to the last ferry from Donsak to Samui. But you have to make a real point of telling him you want this - it involves him using limited credit at the consulate.

It's quite possible that other agents have something similar, but as I always use Jim, I can't say what else there is.

Not the bus station - private mini bus from Chulia Street.

Isn't visa pick-up time from 15:00 until 16:00?

The agents go to collect them at about 1:00 pm.

How much extra does he charge for this?

Jim's place in chula street, he will sort it all out for you. I can't remember his fee but it's not a lot and saves you dicking around at the consulate.

I sent Jim an E-Mail some days ago - no reply yet :-(
Does anyone have his Number?

Also, do you know if he offers the express service also for Non-Imm B (Business) Visa?

I'd like to fly to Penang on Tuesday, arriving in the late afternoon and take the flight back to Samui on Thursday afternoon. That means i would apply wednesday morning and would need to get it back within 24h. Does anyone know for sure if thats possible or not?

Cheers

Try New Banana Guest House. Google for email, Lily will reply. They also do a same day ...for a fee, which was great when the BKK-Penang early flight was available, Fly in, eat curry, get visa, fly back within 12 hours...

I got my visa through Banana a week ago... Single entry tourist. They advertise non-imm visas, too, but I didn't ask if they do them. At least with tourist visas, you apply in the morning (or the day before) and get your visa around 4-5 pm. I'm not sure how early you need to be there as I filled in my application the day before (arrived by train around 2 pm).

Also bought their trip to Phangan for 120RM, minivan to border, change minivans, minivan to Hat Yai, bus to Don Sak (all night), Raja ferry to Phangan.

I got a reply from Lily from Banana Guesthouse but she said it would not be possible.
Unfortunately she didnt mention why its not possible so i am trying to find out if they just dont wanna talk about it in emails or if its different for tourist visas...

They just probably wants you to stay 2 extra nights.

Last time I got a visa, that was 7 years ago, Jim delivered at noon so I could catch the plane to Samui.

Flew over Tuesday and a couple of people got non Bs before flying back Thursday. As I remember, unlike the tourist visa you have to apply in person but the agent picks it up for you though it could be the other way around in that you have to collect it yourself.
