Beware of bike theft gangs operating in poorly lit and remote streets.

An interesting case now from Soi Arunothai in Central Pattaya which serves as a warning to motorcyclists who use this road and other poorly lit roads at night. Pattaya Police were called to the area after receiving a call from a man who had just been involved in an attempted robbery. He spoke with us and mentioned that a row of nails had been placed on the road and it appeared that a gang of thieves were waiting for bikes to run over the nails and crash their bikes.

This is exactly what happened to this man, however at the time, other bikes were driving past and the gang was prevented from thieving because at this time they were outnumbered. The gang fled and unfortunately could not be caught. If you find yourself driving your bike in a poorly lit or remote street late at night, please remain fully aware of your surroundings and, if you can take an alternative route or stick to the main roads.
